    VDR developer version 1.3.7 is now available at

    *** DIFFERENT FILE NAME) IF YOU WANT TO RECORD SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT.


    With all that said, I would appreciate if many of you could test this
    new and long awaited feature and report any bugs or unexpected behaviours
    you might encounter.


    WARNING:
    ========


    Before using this version, please make sure you read the file
    README.developer (which is contained in this archive). Also, please
    don't use this version in your "productive" environment (unless you
    know what you're doing ;-), because it automatically changes the
    'channels.conf' file and the changed file might not work with older
    versions of VDR.


    Note that due to the new transponder scanning the number of channels
    may increase dramatically, and so may the amount of EPG data.
    Set the "Setup/DVB/Update channels" option to a smaller value if you
    don't want to get new transponders or channels.


    The changes since version 1.3.6:


    - Added 2x Instant Time Shift. It is now possible to do Time Shift twice. For example you can record 2 Channels and watch another. This is also possible with an single card system. Note that you need the new "RE-HEAD" driver from the linuxtv.org CVS.


    - Added 16bit Color OSD. Reworked the whole OSD to display nice 16bit colors. The Elchi-Patch is now also included.


    - Added the AC3OverDVB Patch from S. Hülswitt. VDR now takes AC3 or DTS data from a recorded or transfered stream, encapsulates the
    data into special headers and sends them out via SP/DIF connector of the card.


    - Added Budget-Mode. It is now possible to use VDR with an Budget Card only. ATTENTION: You will need 2 Budget Cards to get that working.


    Note that this an experimental developer Version. Please report Bugs to the VDR-Mailinglist.


    The DVB driver I am currently using can be found at

    which is the CVS 'RE-HEAD' version from 2003-11-08, made available as a complete
    archive for your convenience. Of course, you can also use any newer version from
    the CVS.

    YES YES!!!! Das ist ein Meilenstein an dem wir noch lange denken werden. Klaus und die Driverwriter IHR SEID DIE GRÖSSTEN!!!!!!


    (Ok, ich bin drauf reingefallen ... ;)

    Tja, beim "Elchi Patch is now included" wurde ich stutzig, denn das hätte Klaus schon vor ewigen Zeiten locker machen können, er möchte es aber nicht. Und 16-Bit Farben ist auch zu schön, um wahr zu sein, viel zuwenig OSD-Ram auf der Karte dafür :(

    Ich hätte da ein paar Feature Requests für die nächste VDR Version, ob die allerdings technisch machbar sind
    bzw. welche Funktionen diese Features haben sollen, weisst du ja :D
    Es wäre echt super von dir wenn du das realisieren könntest.

    Der passendste Knaller wäre ja die Version 1.4 gewesen, aber das hätte heute sowieso keiner geglaubt.

    Deshalb hab ich das auch nicht geschrieben, das wäre ja sofort aufgefallen. Aber die Reaktion von ixpix fand ich schon cool :D


    EDIT: Ich merk gerade, das AnK wohl glaubt, kls hätte das wirklich an die ML geschrieben. Dem ist natürlich auch nicht so. Alles von mir erstunken und erlogen :)

    Ich hab mich schon gewundert als ich den Titel gelesen hab,
    Klaus veröffentlicht doch eigentlich
    neue Versionen nur Sonntag Nachmittags
    um 4 Uhr.

    Ich muss sagen ich bin hier schon stutzig geworden... Mein VDR kann jetzt schon beides! :D

    Beim Budget-Mode steht weder was vom DXR3 Plugin, noch Xine oder Softdevice, also wie geht es denn bei dir?
    Richtig cool, wäre es wenn, das der VDR softwareseitig machen könnte, also seinen eigenen rock-stable MPEG Softdecoder mitbringen würde.

    Und ich war schon wieder raffzahnig auf der Downloadseite, bis ich zum Schluss des Artikels hier kam...hrhr.


    Gottseidank ma ausnahmsweise zum Ende des Threads gelesen.

    Ob das softwareseitige nun als PlugIn oder im VDR ist, ist denke ich egal. Was zählt ist dass es rock-stable sein muss :)


    Mein VDR kann auch ganz ohne DVB-Karte (mit DEBUG_OSD=1 um das OSD zu sehen, und dem sky-plugin um VDR eine Karte vorzugaukeln) laufen. Noch einfacher ist es mit einem von mir geschriebenen (Fake)Device-Plugin, welches einfach wie eine DVB Karte ohne Tuner tut :D
