Muß ich mir nochmal angucken, da ich über HDMI ausgebe, fällt mir vielleicht das Problem nicht auf.
Eigentlich sollte es gehen. Am Anfang übergebe ich die gleiche Lautstärke wie VDR eingestellt ist.
Änderungen werden dann per Slave übertragen, bzw. ohne Slave muß der Player selbst über LIRC usw.

Welchen Mplayer verwendest du? mplayer oder mplayer2?

Mit den normalen mplayer habe ich im Moment auch Probleme, die Highlights werden nicht dargestellt,
Aber die Tasten funktionieren, also blind auswählen geht.

Das funktioniert ja solange ich nichts an der Lautstärke ändere.

Schon klar, es betrifft wie gesagt das Ändern der Lautstärke im Slave-Modus. Laut alsamixer wird da einfach die Lautstärke auf 0 gesetzt, wenn ich die Lautstärke zum ersten Mal verstelle - nach dem Muten und anschließenden Unmuten ist sie dann auf dem Maximum.

Bislang den normalen mplayer, mit dem mplayer2 ändert sich aber nichts am Verhalten in den DVD-Menüs (außer dass das Rendering der aktiven Menüpunkte nachhängt)

Ich habe hier eine DVD-Serie (Kir Royal), da komme ich nicht über das DVD-Menü heraus. Aktive Menüpunkte werden da gar nicht angezeigt (ist keine Schrift, sondern nur eine Unterstreichung auf einer Zeitung zur Episodenauswahl), Blindbedienung ist nicht möglich. In XBMC klappt es auf dem gleichen System ohne Probleme... vermutlich liegt es an dvdnav - könnte man das DVD-Menü für solche Härtefälle optional umgehbar machen?

Mir ist gerade aufgefallen das der Parameter a nicht akzeptiert wird. Er fehlt in player.c ProcessArgs().

Untertitel in einer srt Datei funktionieren noch nicht oder?

Edit: Untertitel funktioniert, ich hatte nen Tipfehler im Dateinamen

Ich habe noch ein paar Feature Requests:

- Resume Funktion. Also bei Stop die aktuelle Position speichern und beim nächsten Play dort weitermachen
- Service Interface um die Funktion erweitern um aus einem anderen Plugin Filme starten zu können. Am besten mit Möglichkeit Resume ja/nein
- Season Play, hatte sowas mal auf ein paar Serien Blurays gesehen und fand es sehr gut. Hier werden alle Folgen einer Staffel nacheinander abgespielt. Für den Resume wird aktuelle Folge und Position gespeichert

Ich habe das plugin nun auch unter 1.7.33 übersetzt bekommen, aber es verhindert den systemstart mit einer letzten meldung
"~MyPlugin" ...

Läuft es denn grundsätzlich noch unterhalb von 1.7.34 ? Hat es jemand mit yavdr laufen?

Mir ist aufegfallen, dass das Beenden noch nicht immer sauber klappt. Probleme hatte ich bei allen Möglichkeiten (Back, Stop und Film zuende). Auf die Tasten wird teilweise nicht reagiert.
Das zurückschalten zum LiveTV klappt dann nicht sauber. Mal läuft der mplayer Prozess noch, mal nicht. Es hilft dann immer nur vdr und ggf. mplayer auf der Konsole zu killen und vdr wieder zu starten.

Erstmal muß der Rest fertig werden, dann kann ich mir Gedanken über Features machen.
Hat den der Mplayer keine eingebaute Resumefunkiton?

Ich wollte Playlisten unterstützten, damit wäre dann VDR Aufnahmen und Serien abspielen
enthalten.

Bei Problemen mal eine Debug Version bauen und dann syslog posten.

Ich wüsste nicht warum es mit alten VDR Versionen nicht laufen sollte.
Lief ja bis auf Kurzen noch damit. Baue die Debug Version (mit -DDEBUG) und gucke
was im Syslog steht. Ich teste im Moment nur 1.7.36 + 1.7.38.

ich wollte mal fragen woran es liegen könnte, dass das DVD-Abspielen bei mir nicht funzt.
Dateien abspielen, funktioniert, allerdings auch keine DVD-Images,
Nach dem Start fängt das DVD-Laufwerk kurz an zu zucken, danach kommt nichts mehr, und man ist wieder im VDR.

Is this vdr-play plugin meant as an alternative to the mp3/mplayer plugin? If so, what are the benefits/advantages of using vdr-play over the old mplayer plugin?

Yes, Yes.

It should show the VDR OSD and the VDR OSD should be usable while playing, like old FF-Cards with mplayer/freevo plugin.

Stimmt da fehlt ein "a:".

Untertitel sollten gehen, ich baue noch ein das er die Einstellung vom VDR übernimmt.

danke für den Patch ich werde das einbauen und schauen warum er keine DVDs mag.
Mein Mplayer kann definitiv DVDs abspielen, das hatte ich vorher getestet. (Start über EXTERNALPLAYER)
Das mit dem OSDLEVEL kann keinen besonderen Sinn. Das nehme ich wieder raus.

I gave this plugin a try last night and have a few comments...

I think an option should be added to using an mplayer launch script instead of only being launching mplayer directly. The reason being, different files need or work better using different command line arguments. For example ts & mts files work best with "-demuxer lavf", while mkv works best with "-demuxer mkv". Deinterlacing should only be used with interlaced content. Support for the optional "-playlist" option, and being able to generate playlists on-the-fly. Setting "-channel X" based on whether or not you're current using surround sound. Etc etc.. This is all very easy to manage using a script, but managing it in play source code isn't. Many users have been using mplayer.sh for ages and are most familiar with it. It also requires little or no knowledge of the mplayer command line options. For me personally, no support for using an mplayer.sh script is a deal-breaker because having to change code and recompile, or even changing settings through the OSD is too cumbersome and doesn't allow for any automation of any kind.

I did manage to play an mp4 file (downloaded episode of Conan Obrien). As soon as I opened the OSD, the video disappeared while audio still played. I'm guessing this is the expected behavior since, IIRC, having the OSD over mplayer would need modification to mplayer. When I closed the OSD, video did not come back. VDR (or the plugin) crashed and VDR became defunct. I don't have a log of this crash but can get one later when I have more time.

It would also be nice to be able to set up an actual sources like rather than browse the whole dir structure. This allows the user to go directly to a desired dir with a single entry from the remove instead of having to manually navigate between (all the) different dirs he may have. In my case this would be all the shared dirs from my lan fileserver.

I tested with VDPAU, nvidia driver 310.32, mplayer2 95e81df (compiled from git), play-0.0.14-git.5db56e29, VDR-1.7.38.

mplayer2 uses another color key - you shuld start the play plugin with this option:

Than you must stay with the mplayer plugin. One design goal is no need of this ** ** *** shell scripts.
When mplayer has problems with special streams, than fill bug reports to mplayer.
When mplayer is too stupid to know, that the deinterlacer is not needed, than fill a bug report there and don't work around the bugs.

You have the option -/ and "man ln -s" or use automounters.
And some day I will support play lists.
