English Stations For Kids?

  • Yohoo!

I can get a new job in Ireland, so we will move with the family.

But our Kids (7,5 and 3 years) don't speak english at the moment. Now I want to prepare them for our new live in Ireland.

Are there any good (and free) station, where I can find english-spoken broadcasts? In special, I'm looking for those who they know:
-Teletubbies (easy, but for learning language possible ok)
-Die Biene Maja (Maja the Bee ?)
    -Pipi Landstrumpf
    -Lauras Stern
    -Barbie
    -Peter Hase und seine Freunde
    -Petterson und Findus

Which stations should I activate in channels.conf to record some of the above?

  • The best thing would be to point a dish at 28.2 degrees, which might not be feasible depending on where you live in Germany. The best kids channel is BBC's Ceebies. I moved to Ireland 10 years ago myself and it is save to say that your children at that age will have no problem picking up English "off the street". If you believe it or not in time it will be actually more difficult for them to speak a proper German. If you need any other advise let me know.

Living between Berlin an Baltic Sea, I would'nt expect to have any success in switching the dish.

    Anyone with another idea?

Are there any Streaming or web-TV sources?

  • Hi Knebb!

It's an english forum I think.

Tell me, if you are starting to learn a foreign language: Would you start with a scientific text or would you prefer easy literature?

    Any more questions?

THX. I'll try it on weekend.
Additionally, I've search at Astra an found only the following stations:

    Great :(
So forget it was just an idea....or are there any other satellites I could receive with my 19,2° dish?
