    Hello,

i'm looking for free2air-stations broadcasting movies in english language on Astra. Does anyone know some?

    thnx for your answers!

Which Astra? 19.2 or 28.2? On 28.2 there are some stations (BBC, ...) on 19.2: dunno

    arghgra

  • Astra on 19.2° => me = german ;)

Anyone any suggestions? I'd like to watch some movies in the original-version and improve my english as well.

And, yes, I know about DVDs with english audio-tracks, but he, I'm a VDR-User, I don't care (very much) about DVDs ;)

    Greets!

  • Dunno if you're interested, but e.g. the default channels.conf lists:

  • Some more FTA's:

    CNN International
    Travel Channel
    The GOD Channel

Movies? No, currently there is no FTA channel broadcasting movies in English on Astra 19.2.

Solution: Either buy a "Premiere Film" subscription (about 2/3rds of all movies on Premiere 1-5 are broadcast with original audio track). Or turn your dish...

:( Sh#t! Just as I expected! Well, nothing's that easy as it seems. So I have to stick to DVDs... Turning will not be accepted, neither by me nor by my sweety. Watching "Premiere" using a VDR (non-certified device) is slightly illegal as I remember and would only be possible by spending some more € on equipment (CAM + Extension to the TT-Board).

Just to be curious: How much is the described subscription per month? Can this subscription be bought in combination with a (really) cheap receiver? Perhaps there's a X-Mas-Promotion?

For the lowest price, you can buy prepaid card from one of the reliable sellers at eBay (those with 1000 points and 99.9% positive reviews).

A 15 month FILM package costs 199,- = 13,20 per month. About the price of renting 3-4 DVDs per month, but you don't have to get your butt off the sofa. I recently got myself such a package and haven't regretted it yet (and for years I tried to avoid premiere and only rented DVDs). And my kids love it too because Disney Channel is included at no extra cost. Premiere 1/2 broadcasts in dual languange and true anamorphic 16:9, the quality is really like DVD. Premiere 3,4,5 also have movies in original language but letterboxed, Premiere 6-7 is only german and letterboxed or 4:3.

You can go down the expensive CI/CAM route or look for alternative card reading solutions that will not set you back more than 30€ for the complete HW (not to be discussed here). Neither one of the solutions is "illegal" in the sense that you are breaking any law. But you would be breaking the rules of the contract with Premiere. But since the expensive CI/CAM solution will not give you a "premiere-certified" receiver anyway, I think there should be no reason to go with the expensive solution. Why violate the premiere contract with a €180 device when you can do it with a €30 device as well ;) ?
