Tevii S470 wird nicht erkannt - Welches DVB-Subsystem nutzen?

    nachdem mein Experimentier-System (endlich) das erste 1080p-Video vom NFS-Server abgespielt hat (leider noch ohne Ton), wollte ich mich der DVB-S2 Karte widmen:


    Einer Tevii S470.


    Ich habe yaVDR 0.2 installiert und alle Installationsoptionen auf Standard belassen. Nachträglich habe ich nur folgendes erledigt:


    1. Skript von linuxtv.org ausgeführt:

    2.

    Code
    apt-get install s2-liplianin-dkms

    ausgeführt und danach
    3. Die Datei http://tevii.com/tevii_ds3000.tar.gz geladen und
    4. Im Unterverzeichnis "linux-s2api-ds3000" des Archivs nach INSTALL ein

    ausgeführt + Rechner reboot


    Nach wie vor liefert ein

    Ich vermute, da ist ein Framework zuviel zugange, kenne mich aber nicht gut genug aus um zu sagen, welches über ist und wie weiter vorzugehen ist. Würde mich über einen kurzen Schubser in die richtige Richtung freuen.


    yaVDR und VDR Wiki/FAQ hilft mir leider nicht weiter.

    wenn ich die ganzen Informationen die ich zu einem Setup mit yaVDR und der Tevii S470 gefunden habe zusammenfasse, sieht das Problem für mich folgendermaßen aus:



    1. Den Infrarot-Empfänger kann ich vergessen mit dem yaVDR 0.2 Kernel
    -> Kernel-Patch CX23885-ir existiert (https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/73795/) und ist in 2.6.34 integriert


    2. Für Kernel < 2.6.33 soll man verschiedene Arbeitsschritt ausführen, aber ab 2.6.33 soll CX23885 out-of-th-box funktionieren, wenn Firmware eingespielt ist
    -> 2.6.34 einsetzen


    3. Und die persönlichen Vorlieben deckt der yaVDR 2.6.32-23 auch nicht ab:
    - deadline als I/O Sched
    - Prozessor-Optimierung
    - Anderer Flußkontroll-Algorithmus
    - CFLAGS="-O2 -march=native" ;)


    Also einen eigenen Kernel backen. Fragt sich nur, ob die Package Maintainer der NVidia-Module und sonstiger yaVDR-Blobs auch die Tools zum bauen der Module gegen einen anderen Kernel in yaVDR mitliefern.


    Tun sie das?

    Das verstehe ich absolut nicht. Erst holst du den Treiber aus dem HG und baust ihn selber und dann installierst du noch unser Treiber-Paket. Warum? Doppelt genäht hält besser? Warum hast du nicht schon bei der Installation den Treiber ausgewählt? Auf jeden Fall kann ich mir nicht vorstellen, dass diese ungesunde Mischung aus Treiber-Modulen funktionieren wird.

    ganz einfach: Unwissenheit ueber die Linux TV-Subsysteme. Und weil ich kein Freund von hundertmal neu Installieren bin, werde ich das per Hand gradebiegen und dann aufbauend auf eurer Kernel-Konfiguration mal einen eigenen Kernel backen und dabei auch gleich in Documentation/ nach einer Beschreibung des TV-Krams suchen und lesen :)


    Zu meiner Verteidigung:
    Ansonsten fehlt (verstaendlicherweise) eine zentrale ausfuehrliche Dokumentation von yaVDR die erschoepfend alle Fehlerfaelle beschreibt, wie es das z.B. annaehernd bei der Dreambox gibt. Stuende als OSS-Projekt bei mir aber auch ganz unten auf der ToDo ;)


    EDIT: Bisher bin ich mit dem Baukasten den ihr liefert sehr zufrieden. Macht ihr gut :)
    EDIT2: Habt ihr einen IRC-Channel?

    Solch eine Dokumentation kann es nicht geben, weil man nicht auf alle Fehlerfälle kommen kann. Was sollte denn in der Dokumentation stehen? Installiert den DVB-Treiber nicht 2 mal? Dann müsste wohl auch rein: Gießt kein Wasser in den VDR. Auf jeden Fall hat keiner von uns Lust und Zeit eine solche Dokumentation zu erstellen und zu pflegen. Freiwillige vor.

    Dies musste ich machen nachdem ich yaVDR 0.2 installiert hatte.
    Seither habe die Tevii S470 erfolgreich bei mir im Einsatz.
    Da der IR empfänger der Tevii nicht funzt habe ich den Atric rev. 5 angeschlossen.

    benutzt du die normalen v4l Pakete oder hast du bereits bei der Installation s2-liplian gewaehlt?



    Falls solche Arbeitsschritte bei vielen DVB-S Karten notwendig sind, wuerde es sich doch lohnen ein entsprechenden Debian-Paket dafuer mit den aktuellen Skripten und URLs zu bauen. Quasi ein "install-firmware-cx23885" all-architectures Paket fuer yaVDR. So koennte man den Aufwand vergessen, ein huebsches ncurses-Interface drum herum oder gar ins Webinterface einbauen und schon ist man fertig.


    Gibt es da lizenzrechtliche Bedenken? Wenn das bei mir die Loesung bringt, baue ich es mal als Beispiel fuer die Tevii S470.

    Ich hatte mit dem v4l dkms Paket auch meine Probleme, habe es dann rausgeworfen und liplianin installiert und mir aus dem bereits genannten Tar NUR die fw Datei kopiert (siehe Andals Beitrag).


    Das reicht, um die Karte zum Arbeiten zu überreden.

    Habe gerade mal aus Neugier in meiner VM das Paket linux-firmware-tvt installiert, weil ich das auch nicht kannte, aber durchaus nutzen würde. Merkwürdigerweise ist lt. dpkg -L außer den übelichen Verdächtigen unter usr/share/docs nichts in diesem Paket enthalten. apt-get hat mir das Paket linux-firmware-tvt Version 1.1-1tvt1 installiert, falls das hilft.

    mit einem 2.6.34.1 mit cx23885-ir patches direkt in yaVDR 0.2 installiert funktioniert es auch. Karte wird erkannt, Infrarot-Empfaenger fuer inputLIRC wird erkannt und man findet sogar Kanaele ;) Weiter bin ich noch nicht.

    Bei einem neuen Kernel ist es immer spannend, ob denn so Sachen wie S3,S4,WOL,ACPI-Wakeup noch funktionieren, so sie es denn vorher getan haben.
