Hallöchen,
nach längerer Zeit, habe ich mal wieder ein wenig Luft hier mitzuwirken

.

Ich habe nach ein wenig rumstöbern im Internet folgendes gefunden:

Offensichtlich kann der "Zwerg" relativ gut einen HD Stream über HDMI abspielen.
Und jetzt kommt meine Frage:
Da ja RaspberryPI mit einem ARM Prozessor ausgestattet ist, wie schwierig könnte sich die Portierung gestalten damit die XBMC inklusive der VDR Plugins laufen könnte?
Ich finde das Ding einfach genial als Streamclient.

hi merlin,

sowas in der art hat claus mit der mld auch vor. steht schon alles in den startlöschern, aber bis jetzt fehlt noch die testplatform.

mld arm. ob es umsetzbar ist wird man erst sehen :-)

Blöd ist nur, daß der Support für den MPGEG2 Hardware-Dekoder gestrichen wurde. Die Lizenzgebühren sind zu hoch. Es gibt *nur* MPEG4. Ob der SoC MPEG2-Decoding in Software hinbekommt bezweifele ich erst mal.

Zu dem Thema hatten wir schon ein paar Threads.

Neben dem Mpeg2 Support fehlt VDR auf noch ein Frontend das auf OpenGL ES 2.0 läuft.

Das mit Mpeg2 wurmt mich nun aber auch etwas.
Muss man mal sehen ob man eine alternative Firmware für den SoC findet. Sehr schade.

uhm ich würd einfach mal bissi abwarten. das kommt 100%, allerdings sollte man ihn vorher erst mal kaufen können =)

Ich persönlich würde ja nichtmal den VDR auf dem Ding laufen lassen wollen, sondern nur als XBMC Klient, der ja eigentlich ganz wunderbar funktioniert.

Ist eigentlich der PVR schon in den Hauptzweig eingeflossen? Wenn nicht, könnte man das dann auch auf dem ARM Übersetzen oder sind die Quellen auf 386 ausgelegt?

Nun ja, soweit ich das gelesen haben kann der Chip ja MPEG2 aber durch Lizenzprobleme ist das im Moment noch nicht freigeschaltet... zumal ich das Ding im Moment für SD und kein HD benutzen möchte und somit mir Chancen ausmale das Ganze auch per Software decoden zu können.

Glaube nicht das die CPU es schafft mpeg2 in Software zu decoden, nicht mal in SD.

Das ist natürlich schade, da es dann ja wohl auch nicht möglich sein wird mit einem DVD per externem USB Laufwerk DVDs anzuschauen...

Definitiv ein Defizit was die zeitnah lösen sollten.

Ich glaube das ist den meisten hier schon klar das die GPU das könnte aber die Lizenzen Fehlen.

Aus meiner Sicht bedeutet es das die Firmware die in den SoC oder GPU geladen wird den Codec nicht freischaltet.
Bedeutet aber auch das man diese Firmware aus einer anderen HW die den selben SoC hat vielleicht extrahieren könnte.

Alternativ heißt es waren bis die Firma genug Geld eingenommen hat und eine neue FW mit freigeschalteten Codec frei gibt.
Ich persönlich denke aber das dieses nicht sooo schnell passieren wird. Vielleicht in 1-2 Jahren. Könnte mich aber auch irren. Der Fokus des Boards liegt aber nicht auf STB's.

Aber, genau aus dem Grunde werde ich meine Bemühungen eines (oder mehrere) von den RPIs zu bekommen weiterhin aufrecht erhalten

Das Board wir ja nicht von einer profitorientierten Firma sondern von einer Foundation vertrieben. Die wollen dass Schüler mehr mit dem Ding programmieren können. Im Umkehrschluss muss man aber auch sagen dass es vielleicht sogar interessant sein könnte dass die Schüler den MPEG2 Codec benutzen könnten da ja bekannterweise alles was mit Multimedia zu tun hat, die Jugend eher anzieht. Ich sehe da schon interessante Möglichkeiten.

genau so isses.
ich werd mir auch direkt mal 5 stück bestellen.
kaufen kaufen kaufen und supporten, kann sich ja denk ich mal jeder mindestens einen leisten.
fürs auto, zur haussteuerung, fürs fahrrad, den urlaub, die freundin usw. rofl.. himbeeren für alle!! kann man sovieles mit machen =)
je mehr support die bekommen, desto schneller gibts hardware mpeg2 support und wir sind alle glücklich =)

Anscheinend verstehen doch nicht alle was auf der RaspberriPI Seite geschrieben wird. Aber du kannst ja berichten wie sich die Videos ohne den Video Decoder decodieren lassen.

Also wollen wir mal die Sache so umschreiben:
Wenn XBMC darauf läuft, kann ich ja schonmal DivX, Fotos, Musik usw auf dem Ding anschauen. Das ist ja wohl mehr oder weniger bestätigt. Dafür brauche ich im Moment noch kein MPEG2. Sollte der MPEG2 und/oder VDR nachgereicht werden wird das für mich ein nettes Goodie.

Nebenbei bemerkt habe ich schon mittels Phidgets und ein wenig Löten einen Controller für mein Aquarium entwickelt. Pumpensteuerung, Lichtsteuerung, Wasseranalyse...uvm. wird von Python aus gesteuert. Ich warte nun nur noch auch den RPI um mein Programm darauf laufen zu lassen... aber das gehört nicht hierher.

Was ich gerne damit machen will, ist einen WIFI Stick in ein Model B stecken damit ich einen RPI hinter meinem Projektor verstecken kann um von dort ein XBMC Mediacenter (mit - in der Zukunft - VDR ) zu betreiben. Damit könnte ich dann auf meine Netzwerk-Platte zugreifen und multimediale Inhalte streamen. Darüber hinaus ist ja XBMC jetzt schon in der Lage Airplay Streams zu empfangen. Somit könnte das ein Workaround zu dem fehlenden MPEG2 Codec sein... vorläufig.

Vorallem lessen sie wohl auch nicht alles: pro Pappnase kann erst mal nur 1. Pi bestellt werden.
