Introduction
------------
bdremotelircd is a lirc daemon for the Sony BD Bluetooth Remote available today.
It is not a complete lirc implementation by any means, but a replacement
lirc daemon that will receive the remotes bloetooth codes from the system and
sent lirc codes on the lirc socket file.
To make use of this software you will also need the standart lirc package
available from http://www.lirc.org.
Installing
----------
Simply type 'make && make install'.
To run, execute 'bdremotelircd'. Make sure no other lircd is running.
Supported Key Messages
----------------------
These are the codes generated by bdremotelircd:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
ENTER RETURN CLEAR EJECT TOPMENU TIME PREV NEXT

Setting up hidd to automatically find the BD Remote
---------------------------------------------------
Set up Bluetooth and make sure hidd is running.
Make sure your system supports hidraw devices.
Add a section for the BD Remote to your Bluetooth setup.
/etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf:
00:19:C1:23:XX:XX {
name "Sony Computer Entertainment Inc BD Remote Control"
auth enable;
encrypt enable;
}
Pairing the BD Remote with linux
--------------------------------
Press 'Start' and 'Enter' for more than 5 seconds on your BD Remote.
On a root console enter: 'hidd --search'
The remote and the system should pair, if this does not work then check
your setup, or try a different Bluetooth device.
Type 'dmesg' and look for something like:
input: Sony Computer Entertainment Inc BD Remote Control as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:04.0/usb3/3-2/3-2:1.0/bluetooth/hci0/hci0:40/input4
generic-bluetooth 0005:054C:0306.0003: input,hidraw2: BLUETOOTH HID v1.00 Gamepad [Sony Computer Entertainment Inc BD Remote Control] on 00:10:60:29:4C:6B
If you can read something like this - good. If not - bad.
Now remove the batteries from your remote and reboot the PC. After the reboot
insert the batteries again and press a few keys on the remote, enter 'dmesg'.
If the above log entry is there again, then the remote and the PC are permanently
paired. If not - try again.
Have fun.
