I have no ehd after you replace vdr.exe :

usr/sbin replace with vdr but i do not understand , i have no ehd now ?

Is there a special way to install vdr.exe and ehd ?

Was ok before now all kernels not working - no vdr , no ehd ?

The problem is when you turn off Reelbox with remote , it now turns off completely .

Sometimes i want standby but always turn off ?

I put vdr in usr/sbin and now ehd has gone - no picture ?

I have used recovery 2 times and always no picture after install.

Note : using v2.61 the v2.74 is not working with nvidia.

How do you use Recovery ?

make a new start.

Start Recovery-Installation from DVD, than 1 - 3 over Route66.

If this works, make a Backup on 2. HD with the Installation-DVD.

If you make a mistake, you kan return to your last Version.

Then try all step by step, if it not works, go back to the last Version.

first make an Recovery-Installation from DVD, than step 1 - 3.

Than take a Backup from your System on 2. HD over Installation-DVD.

If you want to intall the latest Version from VDR download this: http://www.sc-schulze.de/wp-co…9/vdr-1.7.29.9-bm2lts.deb

When you have download it, copy it to /home with the software WinSCP, than open the Programm PuTTY (Verison 0.65). You get this software free in the Web.

In PuTTY you type:

"killall -g vdr"

(for killing the vdr), when the Display switch to show the Time, you can start.

Than you type in PuTTY (also you can copy with the mouse, insert with the right side)

cd /home
sudo dpkg -i vdr-1.7.29.9-bm2lts.deb
init 6

When RB starts, you type in PuTTY:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

If you are asked
keep old grub
marked sda (ssd)

Copy the eHD-Driver to /home with WinSCP.

Install Kernel 3.16.0-43-lowlatency

Open Putty and type:

sudo apt-get install linux-image-3.16.0-43-lowlatency

cd /home
chmod 755 hdshm.ko 
cp hdshm.ko /lib/modules/3.16.0-43-lowlatency/kernel/drivers/video/
init 6

When RB starts, open PuTTY and type:

cd /lib/modules/3.16.0-43-lowlatency/kernel/drivers/video/
depmod -a
init 6

When RB starts, open PuTTY and type:

depmod -a
ldconfig

Then switch off the RB.
Turn it off using the switch.
Pull the power cord.
Wait a minute.

Now I hope it will work, for me it worked.

When this is done, i think you can try to install the nvidia-Driver.

Using v2.61 and nvidia not installed.

The last step is to replace vdr in usr/sbin is this correct ?

If this is correct is there a latest vdr.exe and could you upload this ?

KMH post is too complicated /do not understand Putty/winscd ,i do not have windows installed.

I am looking for vdr.zip latest , it was here bin forum but can not find.

cinfo posted a link to .deb image file.
What you need to do is just to put it on a USB flash disk, then to open the file explorer directly from the AVG and press OK on the file.
The image will install.

What i did was to click on the .deb and ubuntu software center installed the file.

I then rebooted but Reelbox is still powering of when i want it to just go into standby.

To solve this problem in the past there was a vdr.zip file - you unzip and place in usr/sbin > reboot and Reelbox goes into standby or power off.

It's not for vdr Version 1.7.29.9!

How do you copy the EPGsearch, ehd-Driver and vdr to the Reelbox?
It's the same way to copy vdr-1.7.29.9-bm2lts.deb to the Reelbox!

Putty is only an alternative way, if you're not using the keyboard affiliated on the Reelbox.

I think, that the vdr 1.7.29.9 is not installed, because vdr 1.7.29.9 have not the problem with the energieoptions.

I would do nothing without killing (killall -g vdr) vdr bevor. Over the keyboard affiliated on the Reelbox (Strg + Alt + F2), or over Putty on the PC (Mac, Win, Linux).

WinSCP is a SFTP Client, there may be something for Mac.

I think you use a Mac, because there no knowledge about MSWindows or Linux.

If you go any other way, than the usual, you are living risky. You might want to make the effort to understand it, what is being proposed here. Otherwise no one can help you.

I also have a few skills in Linux, but I follow the suggestions.

Übers Wochenende hat meine AVG2 dauernd Abstürze gehabt. Also habe ich heute diese Version neu installiert. Während route 66 fiel schon auf, dass reboot nicht funktioniert. Ich habe immer am Netzschalter ausstellen müssen. Trotzdem hat die Installation geklappt. Auch meine Channel-List ist importiert. Nur die Suchtimer mit MuCommander klappen nicht, da der Wartungsmodus auch nicht funktioniert. Absturz. Wie kann ich die Suchtimer anders importieren? Weiß jemand wo dran es liegt, dass alle Standby-Modi nicht funktionieren?

Anscheinen stürzt die Box auch weiterhin nach ein paar Minuten wieder ab. Kommt nicht wieder richtig hoch, mit dem Netzschalter funktioniert es dann.
