Insmod or modprobe isn't the question. They both load modules, but you need a tool that is able to load a module WITHOUT the kernel version check, so you need to use modprobe.

Ist das richtig, daß yaVDR auf der alternate CD basiert? Wenn ja, dann scheint wirklich der ums-cypress drauf zu fehlen (hier)

ZitatIt is not possible to create Ubuntu 10.04 USB disks from the Startup Disk Creator in Ubuntu 10.10 due to a backwards incompatibility in the syslinux program.
keine ahnung ob das hier ein problem ist....
@hoplo

It seems as if your problem is no yaVDR but a Ubuntu bug. yaVDR is based on Ubuntu and the kernel of the installation cd lacks the driver. But the yaVDR team is not responsible for that part of the installation, I think...
EDIT: some1, try using unetbootin to create a bootable USB stick from the installation iso, perhaps that works (haven't tried it yet)
thank you.
I will try it and report about the results.
I solved it!
I find the correct file of ums-cypress.ko!
it's located in linux-image-2.6.32-24-generic_2.6.32-24.40_i386.deb. I attached it here in case someone else need it in the future (remove the txt extension in the end).
thats the steps I used to install it:
0. copy the file to the root directory of your usb-key.
1. connect to your pc the external cd & usb-key with this file.
2. start yavdr install from the cd.
3. before you press enter in the question about the installation language (not in the purple screen, in the blue screen after it) press CTRL ALT F2.
3. in the black screen press Enter to start the console.
4. type the following: (please notice - in my pc the usb is located in /dev/sdb1. in your pc the location might be diffrent.)
5. now you should see your cd working...
6. press CTRL ALT F1 to go back to the installation.
thank you very much for the help!
Congratulations ;-)!
thanks! now I have a new question (I should probably ask it in a new thread.. ) - Is Yavdr support wireless network connection? thanks.
Yes, it is possible.
If you understand a little bit german, have a look: [gelöst] Wlan aktivieren
If you can't get it to work, you should start new thread.
