To update your graphics card BIOS under Linux:
1 - Download the the latest unified BIOS file (ie. setup255.exe).
2 - Open a terminal window.
3 - Change directory to where the file is stored.
Ex: cd /home/thisguy/dl.
4 - Rename the file to a zip file.
Ex: mv ./setup255.exe ./setup255.zip
5 - Create a directory called bios.
Ex: mkdir bios.
6 - Change directory to the one just created.
Ex: cd bios
7 - Unzip the whole thing into our current directory.
Ex: unzip -L ../setup255.zip
8 - Copy the self booting floppy image to the current 3.5" floppy.
Ex: cp ./mini.ima /dev/fd0 -f
9 - Mount the floppy drive.
Ex: mount /mnt/floppy
10 - Remove the excess files.
Ex: rm -f /mnt/floppy/autoexec.bat
rm -f /mnt/floppy/dl8.exe
11 - Copy the .bin files to the floppy.
Ex: cp *.bin /mnt/floppy/.
12 - Copy the executables and data files.
Ex: cp english.mmf /mnt/floppy/.
cp progbios.exe /mnt/floppy/.
cp fnt8x14.com /mnt/floppy/.
cp UBIOSDOS.EXE /mnt/floppy/.
cp readme.txt /mnt/floppy/.
13 - Umount the floppy.
Ex: umount /mnt/floppy
14 - Reboot the computer with the floppy in the computer.
15 - When the floppy boots up, you will be prompted for the time and date. Press [ENTER] at both prompts
16 - At the DOS prompt, execute the progbios utility.
Ex: progbios -i auto -q
17 - When the update is completed, remove the floppy and restart your computer.
