Hi.
Is there a way for playing avi, mp3 or jpg files with softhddevice and without having to enter in XBMC?. (just like xineliboutput, with "osd/video/media" menu option)
Regards.

The play-plugin as a mediaplayer for softhddevice is under development by johns who developed also softhddevice.
[play] Mediaplayer Plugin für VDR + X11
But I think it's not stable enough to be added to yavdr !?

Ok, then I should work with xineliboutput or execute XBMC in softhddevice.
Thanks.

hi,
furthermore you can use mplayer/mp3-plugin (audio and video) or the music plugin for audio only.

Hi,
"play" is not in the stable-vdr-PPA yet, but I think I can copy it from unstable for testing purpose.
Lars.
Its still to experimental. There are some unsearched/unfound lockups.
Johns
And for those, who want to "play" with it and find & fix those lockups - it's in the stable-vdr-PPA now.

Hi.
I have installed mplayer plugin but when it plays avi and mp4 video, no sound can be heared.
Should I change any kind of config file in order to activate the sound?
Regards.

Hmm, don't know - i have no problems with mplayer. But i don't know your (audio) setup. Maybe it's the best way to follow gda's advice trying "play"-plugin. i am not a yavdr user (till now).

Ok, I have installed play plugin (sudo apt-get install vdr-plugin-play). I will try it.

mplayer should be also fine - but it doesnt have any OSD then - so it might be a bit awkward. play should be still quite experimental according to the author of the plugin ...
Anyway - try it.
Well, I uninstalled mplayer and I have tried play a little bit.
Should play remember the last point seen in the video file? In my case play always starts at the beginning.
Regards.

Hi again.
Play plugin does not remember the intermediate point of playing when stopping it. Is that the right behavior of play plugin or it only happens in my case?
Regards
jbjbjb
The Play plugin didn't store a resume point.
You can use the mplayer plugin with softhdevice, it should work with the correct setting.
Only the VDR OSD can't be displayed, while the mplayer plugin is running.

Hi.
I installed mplayer plugin again, but again without sound, I do not know why.
Now, I have uninstalled both, mplayer and play plugins and I will use XBMC temporarily to play avi and mp4 files. The problem of crash I had in XBMC sometimes when it goes back to softhddevice can be solved by mean a "sudo restart vdr", so it is fine enough for me.
Thanks and regards.
