Installation startet nicht

Hallo,

wollte heute, nach ersten Versuchen unter Mulimidix, mal Suse 8.1 auf meinem alten WinXP Rechner installieren. Zuerst ging alles gut, der Rechner startet, Boot von CD-Rom (in dem Fall liegt die DVD im Laufwerk). Das Menu erscheint, ich wähle Manual Installation "vga=normal" und los gehts. Da ich an meinem RAID Controller 2 Festplatten hänge habe wollte ich die vorgeschlagene Partitionierung ändern. Habe 1.Platte 5GB /boot Rest Raid, 2.Platte Swap ans Ende Rest RAID und dann die beiden Platten ins RAID eingebunden. Bei der Installation keine Fehlermeldung nur wenn ich jetzt booten will erscheinen immer nur lauter 99 99 99 99 ........ usw auf dem Monitor.

Jemand ne Idee wodran das liegen könnte ?

also hab von der DVD das Rescue System gestartet, aber unter /etc ist keine lilo.conf zu finden. Btw grub.conf auch nicht.
Was soll ich nun machen ?

slime nein, der Rechner startet schon, erst Bios, Geräte erkennen, dann läd er RAID Bios und dann kommt ja bekannterweise das laden des Betriebssystems und an der Stelle erscheinen die ganzen 99 99 99 99 99 99 99 so an die 100 Mal und der Cursor bleibt blinkend mitten in der Zeile stehen

Für mich sieht es so aus als wenn zwar alles richtig installiert ist, er aber nicht weiss wo er genau nach dem Betriebssystem suchen soll. Habe ja schon einiges in diversen Foren gefunden um die "lilo.conf" zu bearbeiten aber wenn ich sie nicht finde kann ich nix machen. Gibt es evtl. noch eine andere Stelle ausser "/etc" wo sie stehen könnte.

Sorry wegen der vielleicht "dummen" Fragen aber bin absoluter Newbie

nochmals danke an alle die helfen wollten. Habe jetzt mal ein ein bisschen die von Euch angegebenen Quellen durchforstet und festgestellt das es ganz schön schwierig wenn nicht gar unmöglich ist von RAID zu booten. Deshalb habe ich nun die 2 Platten normal angeschlossen und installiert. Läufft alles, nun mache ich mich daran VDR zu installieren. Die erste Schlappe musste ich schon einstecken, gleich beim "make" der DVB Driver (gehe nach Hubertus vor) krieg ich schon die erste Fehlermeldung

"makefile:102: /lib/modules/2.4.19-4GB/build/Rules.make: No such file or directory"

und

"make: *** No rule to make target ´/lib/modules/2.4.19-4GB/build/Rules.make`. Stop"

Na mal sehen wodran das wieder liegt, bin ja noch Anfänger und muss erst alles mögliche nachlesen

holymoly habs so versucht wie Du geschrieben hast, aber bekomme die gleiche Fehlermeldung in Zeile 3 bei "make oldconfig", also:

"make: *** No rule to make target ´oldconfig`. Stop"

Noch ne andere Idee ??

Dirk Dank Dir für Deine Tipps, aber hab mich jetzt entschlossen die 2 RAID Platten einzeln anzuschliessen, naja wie man sieht hören damit die Probleme auch nicht auf, neue tauchen auf
