Ubuntu 10.10 grub problem nach installation?

hallo, bin grad bei meinem vater und wollte ubuntu 10.10 installieren, hat auch alles super geklappt, nur, nach dem "system neustarten" zeigt er:

"Minimal BASH-like line editing si supported. for the first word, TAB lists possible commands completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible completions of device/filename"

hat einer nen schnellen einfall was das ist?
ubuntu wird nicht gestartet...

...bei der automatioschen installation wurde keine root partition bestimmt... (wat en scheiss...)
