yaVDR 0.3a - Black screen when editing a recording

Hi.

After last update, Ii is possible to hear the channels with dolby digital sound and also was solved a problem with a HD channel with odd colors in the image (thanks to the developers for solving the two issues), but I have a new problem. When I edit recordings, in the moment that I jump to a mark pressing 7 or 9 keys, the screen becomes black instead of showing the picture of the frame where the mark is. The behaviour is repeated even if I move the marks with 4 and 6 keys. Always black screens are shown till play is pressed again.

Someone has experienced this issue or knows how to solve it?

What is the source of your yaVDR, our ppa:yavdr/stable-vdr?

If yes, please do again:

We pushed some xine-lib updates into this PPA last night ... some major updates, e.g. VDR 1.7.20, a couple of days ago ... we call it yaVDR 0.3.1 ...

Hi @fnu

Yes, I did the "apt-get update" and "apt-get dist-upgrade" but it is after the update you have mentioned when the edition screen has started to become black.

Is there another thing I can try?

Ich habe das selbe Problem. Interessanterweise aber unter 0.4pre und nur an meinem VDR im Wohnzimmer. Am VDR im Arbeitszimmer funktioniert die Anzeige das Standbilds problemlos. Beide Geräte sind auf dem aktuellen und somit gleichen Stand. Bis vor kurzem hatte ich das Problem auch im Arbeitszimmer. Allerdings ist das ganze dort seit einem Update von xineliboutput vor ein paar Wochen ok. Im Wohnzimmer blieb das Problem nach dem Update bestehen.

Well, since all xine-lib stuff in 0.3 and 0.4 is pretty close, it is not surprising seeing the same issue. But you two are the only ones mentioning this issue up to now and, Wyse, yourself do mention, one machine is working, one not. So, I guess this is not a common problem, more a specific one.

Let me see, if I can equipe one of my VDRs with xineliboutput. Up to then, let's try to find commonalities on your VDRs, which do show the issue? Can you please list some hardware details about the devices and do you use the Nvidia driver (270.30) from ppa:yavdr/stable-vdr?

The drivers I use are the ones of yavdr stable. I update them with "apt-get dist-upgrade" and for the sound I Installed "linux-backports-modules-alsa-lucid-generic".

The problem is the skin PearlHD(native). Independend of xine@vdr-plugin-xine or vdr-sxfe@vdr-plugin-xineliboutput. Try NorrowHD instaed. The existing thread in German is here. There is a bugreport for this. I stay with NorrowHD till this is solved.

Bottomline I would expect the usage of any text2skin Skin, not only NarrowHD, should work then.

Ok. On my first VDR I use anthra_1920_FS and on my second VDR I use anthra_1920_OS. When I change the OSD of the first VDR to the anthra_1920_OS skin it works fine.

I only changed ist to anthra_1920_OS on second VDR because the FS Version does not fit on my Samsung TV.

Just for clarification, "anthra_1920_FS" does make problems here and "anthra_1920_OS" not?

NarrowHD, not NorrowHD.

Well in this case I might have look at the skin packages for text2skin@0.3.x, to make sure we've the lastest versions of them, e.g. NarrowHD and anthra. Stay tuned ...

Hi again.

Tried with NarrowHD Skin, but it does not solve the issue. Probably it is not the same as mentioned. With NarrowHD Skin the screen becomes black when I am stopped in a recording mark. Moving the mark with 4 and 6 makes appear the frame for half second and the screen becomes black again. Neither hangs nor other problems, only black screen.

So, any other idea?
