SoftHdDevice on CubieBoard 4

No Allwinner device is supported directly by softhddevice.
A10/ A20 has experimental support by libvdpau-sunxi which is the vdpau-backend driver for these devices and can be used by softhddevice.
Cubieboard 4 (A80) isn't supported.

libvdpau-sunxi with Banana Pro or Banana Pi supports hardware decoder und hardware renderer.

I don't know, what the CPU is capable of, but yes, there is no hardware accelerated video decoding available with libvdpau-sunxi.
The GPU is not used for softhddevice at all, because it is only used for 3D acceleration. You need support for the display engine and for the video engine.
At least the last one isn't available with open source software (libvdpau-sunxi).
I don't know, if there is any linux source (including display driver) for A80 out there at all.
