This is actually "Linux news" so much rather than "off-topic", as bills (or more precisely, "proposed directives") now underway in the EU legislative process might easily (de facto) outlaw software like VDR (and many more) - but since we don't have that forum yet, I'll post it here rather than in the actual development section:
