    haraldov thank you :)

I contact Honeybee to get a demo xmltv file to try to set this up. This exact process I followed to get xmltv.se to work but I could never get the "use the vdr osd to map the channel id to the vdr channel names and setup the information you want to import" to work. I could not for the life of me understand how this was done.

Lets see if Honeybee gives me an xmltv to play with :)

haraldov That sounds amazing! :) Am and not afraid of paying for a service if it works reliably. If you could give me some pointers in e-mail or similar I would be happy! My email is stian ATT barmen DOTT nu.

On a sidenote I got help from Klaus Schmidinger on e-mail and he is looking into the issue. I think both ways with Honeybee and proper EPG fix would be grand!

Thanks for all help from all that responded :)

Thank again :) I will leave it on FOX for a while and see. My logs look interesting at least :O

Thanks seahawk1986. I have also tried this plugin but I do not understand how it is supposed to work. It states in the readme that:

    Code
the EEPG data is loaded into additional channels if they are specified in the eepg.equiv

What does this mean? I have looked in the eepg.equiv file:

My channels.conf looks like this (example section):

    Code
    FOX HD;Canal Digital KTV:306000:C0M256:C:6952:1261=27:3347=eng@3:0:B00:1094:70:7:0

How am I supposed to configure this plugin? It does not work by itself at least....

This is what is in my syslog:

Just another information. If I tune FOX HD I get 5-6 days of EPG. This channel is the one that sends EPG for all channels but VDR only maps EPG for FOX, not the others. This is where I would hope there was a setting to accept EPG for all channels from this transponder/channel.

Thanks :) that line is a log entry not a selectable option. I would expect there should be something below ---- epg source channels ---- in the first OSD screenshot. The XMLTV file contains the IDs but I cannot get my head around how I match it to the channels.conf.

Noone that can help me? I have tried everuthing to get EPG but still I get close to nothing. This is what I get; best case:

    [Blockierte Grafik: https://preview.ibb.co/f4ha5A/Skjermbilde-2018-11-12-kl-06-54-37.png]

I have tried to install xmltv2vdr plugin but I cannot understand how to match channels to epg source.

What I have done is to download XMLTV from xmltv.se and I have it stored as norwegian_tv.xmltv in /var/lib/epgsources

Created a norwegian_tv file with the following information:

    Code
    file
    14
    hd.v2.no

This gives me the plugin in the GUI with the source but how to I match the channel to the guide?

Not sure what to do. The WAF is all time low without EPG. I am open to all suggestions!

Just if anyone else is struggling to scan for channels in Norway (I am in Bærum) use the following scanning details:

Basically symbolrate needs to be 6952 (not 6950) and QAM is 256. :) This should probably be updated by package maintainer or add a new file for Bærum. Not sure which :)

Hello, I am on Canal Digital Norway and have successfully installed VDR 2.4.0 on Linux Mint, added patches for my CAM to enable dual decrypt patches applied.

But for EPG I only get the current and next program for each channel. On TV Mosaic/DVBlink I get all channels for about a week. On MediaPortal I had to select that all EPG data was on FOX HD to get the same. I read somewhere that you need to have a "modern" EPG scraper that supports getting all EPG data from a central channel to get all data. How can I do this with VDR? I have tried to install some plugins and change the settings but any plugin and setting just gives the same result.

Anyone have any experience with EPG distributed from on channel? Is there a plugin? Any other solution? And this is DVB-C.

Thank you Helmut! :) you pushed me in the right direction!

I reinstalled VDR into /usr/local prefix and manually started VDR with the command

    /bin/vdr --user=vdr -Pddci2 -Pvnsiserver

Plugin xinelibserver does not work for me, but I do not think I need it either. I can still configure VDR from Kodi. Went into the OSD and enabled the CAM tweaks, my conf file looks like this:

My CAM is supposed to be able to decrypt 8 concurrent streams but I have only 4 DVB cards so setting it to 5 is more than I need. And now it works! :D Jay!

When these patches gets into a release I can go back to the debian packages but for right now I just have to run VDR manually with a custom boot script.

Okay, some progress. I have GIT downloaded plugins to the PLUGINS/src folder and it works well for most plugins but I struggle with OSD.

When I start VDR I get the following message in the log:

The patches seems to work cause I get the camtweaks.conf for instance. All the features in xineliboutput are enabled (checked with ./configure).

Still why do I get the "no OSD provider availabile". After this the start stalls and I get stuck....

These are the plugins in PLUGINS/src

ddci2 epgtableid0 hello osddemo pictures servicedemo skincurses status svdrpdemo vnsiserver xineliboutput

Thanks for the help so far but I am struggling to do this. I have been able to add the patches and compile but since I am on a debian system I thought perhaps that I could just change the prefix path in the Make.config to "/usr" but after I install I cannot get plugins to work. Maybe these must be recompiled as-well. Is there some easier way to make this work?

Hello, I am trying this right now :)

Just a think I was wondering. In many other TV software you have to "bind" the channels to the tuner. Is such a thing needed in VDR? I cannot get my head around if this is needed.

Since I am on a debian system I will have to navigate the patching a bit carefully. Working on it. :)

Hello, I have now installed ubuntu 18.04 with yavdr experimental repository. VNSI, DDCI2 and VDR 2.4 works just fine. Still I get only 1 channel descrambled. Not sure how I can enable VDR to descramble two channels at the time.

I can install yavdr ansible to give it a whirl but the main problem is the MTD problem. Not able to find any documentation how I set this up either...

Hello, I am also considering VDR due to trouble getting MTD to work with my DigitalDevices CI CAM and TVHeadend. Only problem is that VDR is a bit complicated, especially when you install from scratch. I have tried with Mint 19 with some success. Got channels scanned and also installed ddci2 plugin and got channels descrambled. But I really would like something a bit more userfriendly. So my question is, should I install easyVDR or YaVDR rather than fiddle with Mint? I saw a youtube video on YaVDR with channel manager, that looked quite cool. But which VDR distribution do you reccommend? Keep in mind that I have only basic skills in German, so I need the UI and settings to be english... :P

Footnote; even if I got my Mascom Conax CAM to work I still havent managed to descramble two channels on two different tuners with my single CAM, even though it is supposed to work on VDR 2.4 with the DD CI and my CAM with ddci2. This is also something I need to overcome to finally transition from Windows (mediaportal/tvmosaic user today).
