    Hiya,

My setup was working fine until yesterday when it stopped working over VGA and stopped even seeing the display (LG TV) it still worked yesterday evening over HDMI (Optoma). I have ran an update this morning (it updated a few things) and it still is failing. Can anyone help me shed some light on this.

    Thank you.

I have a duel display, this is the log file with the one display connected (main display)

This is with both displays connected. (Tv on VDA Optoma as HDMI)

We are also working on updated XBMC packages but we will only publish them if they work and work stable enough.

I completely understand that, I will look at the nightly ppa's and see what they are like, I never knew they were doing linux nightlys.

    Thanks for the pointer :]

Is the a simple guide or instructions somewhere on updating XBMC to a later build, I want to play with the new audio engine, and now PVR features are merged into master I would like to keep up to date.

On 0.4.0 I could do this easily, but it seems to fail on 0.5.0

    I have done this.

    untie-packages
    removed xbmc
    built xbmc from source
    make install

If I run xbmc manually ie.

    stop vdr
    xbmc

    it runs fine.

But it wont run from the menu's (eg Menu > 6 > 2 ) or the left side menu.

Any hints or tips to as to where I should be looking to fix the menu or similar ?

    thanks in advance.

Google translate made it read like he was asking about playback via XBMC as well, and although it will playback SBS / OU etc fine not all displays support both (mine does not support SBS only O/U etc)

Apologies for bumping a dead / solved thread :]

Sorry for bumping a slightly old thread, and not being in German, but you may want to look here

I was playing around with Bino some time ago as an external player with XBMC to allow playing of 3D video's in various formats.

NVIDIA unfortunately does not support Frame Sequential 3D under Linux with the majority of its cards (only really the Quadro) I dont know about AMD / ATI.

Anyway, you can install Bino - http://www.bino3d.org/

and then use the playercorefactory.xml from the post above to play 3D video's in all kinds of different formats and outputs with XBMC.

Its not the most elegant of solutions, and truth be told I would recommend using Windows at the moment for 3D content, but it does work.

    I have never used 0.3.1 I started using 0.4.0

I will have a look at it, I just wanted to start with a base I am familiar with, so it seemed easier to start with Ubuntu server, as I am very familiar with that, wereas VDR and stuff I am still very new too.

But I will have a look at it and see what the update path is like to get to the latest =)

What is the minimum hardware and network requirements for HDTV ?

I have two PC's in my front room, one is a quad core box with an Nvidia card, it is currently running yaVDR and what not, and it is running fine.

The second is a old P4 2.5ghz, with a gig of ram.

They are linked via 100mbit network (wired)

Would the older PC have the guts to run vdr's backend and then stream HDTV over the network to the newer PC.

I suspect it would stumble with network traffic on HD streams, but I thought i would ask.

    Thanks in advance

    Hiya,

I am having a couple of issues with yaVDR, in general it is working fine, so first off thanks for an easy solution for a all in one box, I just have a couple of annoying glitches.

#1. XBMC seems to be having a few issues with video playback. When I watch a Video it will occasionally stall for half a second and jolt the picture every 30 minutes (guess, its intermittent) it will then continue to play fine for another half an hour etc...

I thought this was maybe a problem with the experimental PVR builds so I built and replaced XBMC with the latest Eden beta (well the git source) and I still suffer from this problem. The HTPC used to run XBMC fine by itself, I only switched over to yaDVR when I got a DVB-S2 card.

It appears to be like it is dropping frames or something happens in the background that is causing the system to slow to a crawl for a second, the VDR backend is doing nothing (eg. it is not recording or anything)

#2. Live pause in VDR sometimes crash's the frontend when I attempt to rewing / forward / pause during playback it will reload and I can then I can start the recording again and it is fine, what log files should I attatch for this ?
( I have just read this post - [FIXED] yaVDR 0.4 gives an error when a recording is paused and played again ) and I will give this a go later when I am at home, and see if it solves the problem. I will update if it solves it.

#3. The VDR Livebuffer patch ( livebuffer patch für vdr 1.7.16 (aus rmm svn) ) !, I have read through the German thread using google translate (so apologies if its made a mistake on the translation) but from what I read it appeared the patch used tobe in your distribution of VDR, but I presume it has been removed in 0.4.0.
    ( yavdr 0.4 and livebuffer )

I am pretty competent when it comes to building my own stuff, has anyone patched the latest VDR sources and upgraded the pre-packaged VDR with this patch, is it possible or are there other patches applied and will everything go belly up if I do this ?

Thanks for any hints and tips
