Hi Lars,
ps: reading, understanding German is ok, writing goes slow; so once I will answer in Germans, once in English depending on the time I can/want to spend on the the answer.
pps: "The Cine-CI is somewhere off the DVB spec" => I don't fully agree here: the hardware is what it i and is in itself neutral in that aspect; it just seems very hard for the community to write a driver that maps to the current DVB standards (which is supported by many applications). Somehow we can not write a driver that maps the modul as a CI modul per tuner (that is what I understand the specs of the CI modul should support) and at the same time many want to have the CI modul to be freely usable by the software (for which indeed there is no model in the DVB specs). -
Thanks Lars for your reply.
About 2 years ago I played with the CI, but I wasn't able to get the CI working in any way (I also didn't see any successes from others).Any idea how the CI can now be tested (as I am not a vdr fan, more into mythtv)?
I remember at some point there were some attempts but only with specifc version of the cines2: is the current solution independent of the version of the cines2?
Anyway: when the solution is only working with one tuner, there is still a lot of work to do.
I get once in contact with Jasmin.Walter

Hallo,
http://patchwork.linuxtv.org/patch/13563/
Without the patch I couldn't configure the tuners (they would work without the patch, but myth didn't get the details of the tuners ).
this is on 3.2.0-32-generic (current version of mythbuntu) using CineS2.

Hi,
I installed drivers following the instuction for DD cine S2 v5 against last ubuntu 12.04 kernel 3.2.0; Compilation/installation went ok; after booting I see correct DVB devices. No errors in the system logs.
But when I start mythtv, it cannot communicate with the devices; I see "incorrect ioctl calls' errors in Myth's logs. .
Before installing last version of the drivers it was working correct (so plain Ubuntu 12.04 drivers).
....I recompiled the kernel (actually 3.2.18) and now it is working again.
I will check if I can reproduce the issue.Walter

Note: I will revert to the original ubuntu drivers (but must say I don't know how -yet).

Hallo,
1.5 + tristate "CXD2099AR Common Interface driver"
1.6 + depends on DVB_CORE && PCI && I2C
1.7 + ---help---
1.8 + Support for the CI module found on cards based on
1.9 + - Micronas ngene PCIe bridge: cineS2 etc.
1.10 + - Digital Devices PCIe bridge: Octopus series
1.11 +
1.12 + For now, data is passed through '/dev/dvb/adapterX/sec0':
1.13 + - Encrypted data must be written to 'sec0'.
1.14 + - Decrypted data can be read from 'sec0'.
1.15 + - Setup the CAM using device 'ca0'.Does this mean for each /dev/dvb/adapter a sec0 is being created? Where is the ca0 created?
Is there any way to test the CI module?Walter

@ Walter,
I did have the same problem, Module ngene not found
...
**** look in menuconfig if the ngene driver is enabled, it wasn't enabled for me after the donwload
then the ngene-module was found...
RonaldHi Roland,
Indeed I found that the ngene driver was not enabled to be build. Can you have the ngene driver enabled by default again (as that makes sence for a build that is there to test the ngene drivers)? Or is there a specific reason why it is not active by default?

...
[ 9.870385] ngene: Unknown symbol dvb_dmxdev_init
[ 9.871842] ngene: disagrees about version of symbol dvb_register_adapter
[ 9.871847] ngene: Unknown symbol dvb_register_adapter
...
=> habe dan /lib/modules/2.6.38-11-generic/kernel/drivers/media/dvb/ngene/ngene.ko manuel gelöscht und erneut kompiliert und make install...
Jetzt gibt
modprobe ngene
FATAL: Module ngene not found.
Irgendwie installiert/compiliert media_build_experimental den ngene driver nicht? Beim kompilieren sehe ich keine Fehler Meldungen.Jemand eine Lösung?

- Hersteller des Mainboards: Asus
- genauer Typ: AT3IONT-I Deluxe
- BIOS-Version: 0211 date: 01/05/10
- CPU-Typ und Taktfrequenz: Intel Atom 330 1,6GHz
- Speicherausbau:4GB DDR3 RAMHier auch das shutdown problem:
Note: when I use hibernate the computer is shutting down correctly.Wouldn't is be better now to load the patch by default? Second note: I didn't try the workaround yet.

kurze fragen:

=> CAM /Smartcard from TV-Vlaanderen (same as the Canal Digitaal Dutch solution)
=> the smartcard I know is ok (tested on 'normal DVB-S equipment and via softcam/smartcard reader)
=> CAM I didn't test yet; so there could still be an issue here. I found some reports on CAM's needing a firmware upgrade before they could work. So here I need to do some investigation still to prove the CAM is ok.=> Windows: did a short test with development licence Windows 7 and it didn't work... Activating the CI module gave a 'black' screen. But also here I found simular issues on Internet. But I didn't investigate throughly (seems last like windows drivers brook some more things).

did I notice some sarcasme ;-).
I meant testing the CI/CAM using any of the DVB-apps, not in any proper application. So you didn't miss anything. But good at least you confirmed it will not work in VDR.

Walter

=> I checked yesterday evening and my smartcard is ok. The subscription/card activation works (test with a DVB-S set of 'TV-Vlaanderen'). No new activation was needed.

short update:
=> I tested with a pay channel:
Result is also a bit better: I get some screen which is almost readable. At least I can see the channelname.... But there is no usable sound.
Result is also not stable: sometimes mplayer, ffmpeg get something out the stream, sometimes they don't recognize anything.
The result is the same with FTA channels.

Oliver,
short other question: when running zap... and tuning to a pay channel: should that be enough to get your smartcard activated?
I still don't know if my smartcard is activated; I am paying my subscription thought.... ;-). Do you know if you can see the activation state of your smartcard.Walter
