Hallo zusammen,
Ich habe einen LG 32LH3000 Fernsehen. Laut Herstellerangaben soll das Teil FullHD 1080p machen. Wenn ich nun aber X starte macht er automatisch immer 1360x768, bei einem recht ordentlichen Bild. Es ist zwar möglich (in den nvidia-settings oder direkt xorg.conf) auf 1920x1080 zu stellen, dann ist die Bildqualität Gelinde gesagt aber nur noch sehr bescheiden. Das Xorg.log versucht mir auch etwas zu sagen,

nur offensichtlich sprechen wir nicht die selbe Sprache, denn ich verstehe keine Silbe.

Am Fernsehbild kann ich eigentlich keinen Unterschied erkennen ob ich die Auflösung auf 1360x768 oder auf 1920x1080 habe. Kann mir vielleicht jemand ein wenig auf die Sprünge helfen und mir die Zusammenhänge kurz erklären?

Das ist halt eine Sache der realen Panel Auflösung.
Mach dich schlau was für eine Auflösung das Panel hat und stell sie ein.
Könnte 1366x768 sein, das können die meisten Grafikkarten nicht drum wirds 1360x763 mit 3 Pixel Spalten rechts und links.

Auch die HD-ready TVs können 1080i anzeigen ggf. auch 1080p, dann wird das Bild jedoch skaliert und sieht auf dem Desktop unschön aus.

Sorry ich verstehe im Moment nur Bahnhof und Versuch mein Bildungsmanko im Moment grad aufzubessern. Wenn steht,

dann bin in ich davon ausgegangen dass das auch so ist. Hatte keine Ahnung das da auch noch andere Faktoren mitspielen.

würde auch davon ausgehen, dass es sich dabei um die Panelauflösung von 1920x1080 handelt. Steht bei dem Fernseher was von FullHD?

so wie sich das ließt will dein tv keine 50 hz refreshrate annehmen...
bzw. die edid wiederspricht sich.

arbeite dich mal hier durch:

und erstelle dir einen modeline die "valid" ist

Es tut, wunderschönes Bild in Ubuntu bei 1920x1080. Jetzt muss ich es noch in VDR umsetzen, war bis jetzt alles in Ubuntu live, aber sieht sehr gut aus. Allerdings hätte ich noch 3 Fragen.

1. Die beiden Zeilen

bleiben drinn. Ich nehme an die sind nicht nur zum auslesen der Modes. Ist das richtig?

2. Nach dem starten von Gnome war mmein Bildschirm zu klein ;), sprich rund herum war ein Rand von ca. der breite der Taskbars verdeckt. Der Taskbar musste erfühlt werden. Im TV das Format von "auto" auf "Just Scan" umschalten jetzt sehe ich den ganzen Bildschirm. Ist dies einigermassen normal?

3. Ich habe nur eine einzige "valid modeline" und die ist 60Hz. Ich meine mal gelesen zu haben dass die Wiederholfrequenz bei 50Hz sein muss. Bin ich da falsch, oder was hat das an sich?

So, nun habe ich die Anpassungen noch in meiner VDR Installation gemacht. Einfach genial!! Jetzt geht's.
Nun, mein Halbwissen wird mich nicht ermächtigen eine qualifizierte Aussage zu machen, aber ist das nicht etwas dass bei jeder Installation mindestens kontrolliert und gegebenendfalls angepasst werden sollte? Wäre dem so, gehört dies definitiv ins Wiki, ich würde es übernehmen aber bitte zuerst die Bestätigung von jemandem (höher) Qualifiziertem.

Das hab ich nicht erwähnt, aber mit deiner Single-Screen xorg.conf hatte ich es anfänglich probiert. Dann hatte ich zwar 1920x1080 aber die Darstellung war besch... Mit der von DocViper genannten Vorgehensweise hat es nun funktioniert und auch das Fernsehbild ist ausgezeichnet. Also habe ich entweder etwas bei dir nicht gesehen, oder mein Fernseh ist so speziell dass das bei mir nicht geht.

Aber eine Frage hätte ich jetzt noch. Ich meinte dies bei dir gelesen zu haben dass die Wiederholrate 50Hz sein sollte. Mit der gennannten Methode bekomme ich aber keine "valid" Modeline mit 50Hz. Wie wichtig ist dieser Faktor?

Das nächste mal wenn ich einen Fernsehen kaufen gehe werde ich dort mit einem Computer zuerst testen.

Ich will dich ja nicht verärgern, aber irgendwie stehe ich jetzt auf dem Schlauch.

Ich hab ja gesagt dass ich anfänglich das gemacht habe was du schreibst, nur macht mein LCD bei 50Hz kein vernünftiges Bild und wenn ich X mit -verbose 6 starte dann bekomme ich keine gültige Modeline mit 1920x1080@50Hz. Die einzige gültige Modeline mit 1920x1080 die ich bekomme ist mit 60 Hz. Diese habe ich genommen und die steht jetzt so in der xorg.conf.

Das Bild ist wunderbar alles ok, nur hätte mich halt noch wunder genommen wie "schlimm" es ist dass ich 60Hz und nicht 50Hz eingestellt habe.

Wenn du das hier setzt in deiner xorg.conf:

HorizSync 31.0 - 70.0
VertRefresh 58.0 - 62.0

werden halt die guten Modes excluded!

Wenn du jetzt meine xorg.conf anschaust, dann stehen da sehr gute Werte drin, auch wenn sie nicht zum LCD passen!

HorizSync 15.0 - 82.0
VertRefresh 29.0 - 86.0

Jetzt gehst du mal her, und setzt diese Werte bei gestopptem X-Server in der xorg.conf. Anschliessend startest du den X-Server mit --logverbose 6 und postest hier das logfile. => Mal sehen was da dann schönes drinnen steht.

Wenn du das hast, machen wir weiter...

Erzähl mal wie die Laufschriften bei 60 Hz auf N24 aussehen?

So...

Da ich etwas verunsichert war ob du jetzt die log files generiert mit deiner xorg.conf wolltest oder mit der bestehenden und nur VertRefresh und HorizSync habe ich beides gemacht.

Als erstes in der bestehenden xorg.conf die folgenden Werte angepasst

Daraus ist Xorg.log.60.modified entstanden

Dann habe ich deine xorg.confsinglescreen genommen, daraus ist Xorg.log.wbreu.confsinglescreen entstanden.

Die edid.bin deines LCD gibts über das Tool nvidia-settings.

Da in den Menü's mal in Ruhe schauen, und die Datei abspeichern und dann nach /etc/X11/edid.bin.

Du kannst alternativ in meiner xorg.conf die drei Einträge für edid rausnehmen.

Zur edid.bin gibts hier auch ein paar Threads.

Das Haken kommt vom Syncen des Video's auf die Eingestellte Bildwiederholrate des LCD's, wenn es sauber läuft (= 50 Hz), dann ruckt da nix.

Ich habe mich auch mal daran versucht da bis jetzt alles automatisch erkannt werrden sollte.
Das Bild ist so aber nicht gerade optimal.
In den ganzen Threads hier findest sich ja so einiges, aber ich blicke nicht durch.
Ich habe eine Meta-Mode Zeile in der xorg.conf welche für 720p@0Hz geeignet ist.
die Timings etc. stehen da ja nicht mit drin, denke mal etwas genaueres würde da ein besseres bild bringen, richtig?
Habe also diese Modeline auskommentiert und bin auf die Konsole gewechselt.

Ergebniss, Müll auf dem Bildschirm, Rechner hängt offensichtlich. Trotzdem ein log, da hänge ich mal an.
Werde daraus aber überhaupt nicht schlau.
Da sind irgendwie nur Vesa-Auflösungen drin und zwei sich ähnelnde Zeilen für 720p?
Der Pana kann doch aber auch 1080p, diese Zeilen fehlen ja - weiss nicht was ich verkehrt mache. :-/
Wäre nett wenn mir jemand hilft, die Scuhe bringt mich nicht weiter, man findet überall logfiles in rauhen Mengen, aber kein brauchbares HowTo.
Ich scheitere offenbar bereits daran das ich den X Server unter yaVDR nicht korrekt beenden kann, da ich nur killall xorg , gdm stop kdm stop etc. kenne, aber das hilft mir hier nicht weiter. :-/
