We are working on new zoran supra XD180 platform to run VDR will be 100% open sourced any idea to add and make it much functional please coments ?

Any place to view your work or contribute to it? (youtube as development platform isn't really your plan?)
At first glance I can't find much more than this. Seems interesting, but:
Any more information than the marketing gossip?
e.g. based on which architecture (MIPS,ARM...), cross-comliling toolchain available for that,
simply flashable or has it some locking mechanism (if so: is it already broken)
device drivers (e.g. concerning the hardware codecs) available as open source or binary only
    ...

  • The box runs on a dual-mips cpu, network and usb support is availabe,
toolchain is available, development is done through usb and nfs at this moment.

vdr runs on the dvb/osd, currently we are working on directfb,
anyone interested in helping us, please contact us.

    regards,

    Richard

  • DirectFB is used for video acceleration.

In the development, Linux standart libs and modules are used to make it usable by any Linux application without changes.

MIPS CPU w/o acceleration hardware which is capable of 1080p x264, mpeg4 etc ? I tend to not believe that. If i'm wrong, then wow ;) :lol2

  • Zoran S180 chipset is very powerful.
Chipset has RT (realtime proccess) Side and App Side.

In specifications you can see it support playback of MKV, DivX, FLV with help of libs.

So, the team is developing it supporting DVB standarts. Imagine like this:
DVB STB with S2/S/C/T Support based on Linux DVB Api
So it can support many current apps like CCCam, Newcamd.

DirectFB driver for MPlayer or Xine for MKV, DivX, FLV playback
QT support for apps like youtube shoutcast net browser clients.

    No such powerful product now.

  • Hi,

    thanks for your response.

This is indeed very nice and it'd be exciting to have a set-top-box product that allows installing a standard vdr. I have been looking for this for quite some time.

However, who is "the team", how do we contact the team, is there a web page about the project and a public repository for the team's code?

Forgive me, but your messages in this forum are still a bit confusing and I have no idea how advanced users (some of us can code) could contribute to your project.
