Nonetheless I already tried to follow your instructions by playing back the recording.

Unfortunately I didn`t know how to get to the audio-menu to select the audiochannel at playing back to file (dont know which button to press on "new" remote).

I also moved that specific recording to my Nvidia Shield TV Pro and play it with Plex (from which I know Dolby Playback should work just fine with my Sonos Beam). Surprisingly even there I only get the result "Stereo PCM" shown at Sonos. (At Plex Level the Audio Track shows as "AC3 Stereo").

MediaInfo shows the Audio Track as following:

I`m not quite sure; but maybe it is another case of a "false-friend"; e.g. a falsely marked audio track from the TV station.

I have tuned to the exact same TV station at quite the same time yesterday evening with my old Reelbox Avantgarde III and I clearly got "Dolby Digital 2.0" shown at the Sonos App. So there should be some Dolby in reality, correct?

Can't test softhddrm now, but i think it will be the same. Looks like you need to configure the sound outputs for you device.

How do I do that? (Sorry I only have basic knowledge about Linux etc.)

There are no entries like surround51: at all. Im not exactly sure what this means (but doubt it ain`t no good).

For clarification my Hardware-Setup:

TV: Samsung GU43TU6979

Soundbar: Sonos Beam 2. Gen

HDMI-eARC-Pass-Switch: Feintech VAX04101 (set to an Audio-EDID of 7.1; every Audio-Device should deliver up to 7.1 channels to the Sonos without depending on [maybe restricted] Sound-capabilities of the TV)

NUC: NUC11PAHi3

DVB-Receiver: Netceiver (mcli) with 3 x DVB-C-Cards

Other Stuff: Reelbox Avantgarde 1 / 2 (defective) / 3 (yes; all 3 Models of Reelbox), Reelbox NetClient 2 (not in use), Nvidia Shield TV Pro, Plex Server @ own built NAS

Normally I set all playing devices to passthrough-mode so that they deliver the audio pretty unchanged to the Sonos Beam.
Unfortunately this (passthrough) seems not to work with the NUC or I´m missing some deep settings here of which I don`t know yet where to find and how to set them.

The standard setting of the BM2LTS-Image -a hdmi:CARD=PCH,DEV=0 -p hdmi:CARD=PCH,DEV=0 produces at least "Stereo PCM".

But I`m searching for or trying to get some Dolby AC-3 if it is being sent?!

I still didn`t get what all of this really means.

Is the command aplayer -L really what I suppose it to be: A listing of the capabillities of the NUC-Hardware? Or is it a listing of what is configured at the OS level (software level); heard the term ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) around.

If it is a hardware listing: Why are there at least 4 HDMI-Devices found if the NUC only has 1 physical HDMI-Port? (OK, it has an additional Mini Display Port [could also transport audio], a headphone jack; but thats still only 3 ports with audio?)

But the foremost question for me still is: Would it be somehow possible to get some AC-3 out of this piece of hardware and software and if how?

For that question: Is softhddrm the same as this Github https://github.com/zillevdr/vdr-plugin-softhddevice-drm? If so than I might have spotted some very bad news for me:

Ich nutze - mangels (tiefer) Linuxerfahrung - hauptsächlich das was im Image "BM2LTS" "geliefert" wird. Wie du oben siehst fehlt mir jetzt schon einiges an Wissen/Können mit und über den BM2LTS-Standard.

Ebensowenig wüsste ich jetzt, ob und wie ich mit pulseaudio meine Lage verbessern könnte.

Wie ich das verstehe ist softhddrm ja ein software-emuliertes Video-/Audioausgabegerät und momentan scheint dieses Gerät AC-3-Audio (temporär) nicht ausgeben zu können. Wo und wie käme hier jetzt pulseaudio ins Spiel?

Die Aufnahme war bisher nur eine Dolby 2.0-Aufnahme vom Sender Tagesschau 24 HD.

ich hatte weiter oben diese Aufnahme schon einmal abgespielt via Plex auf meinem Nvidia Shield (also komplett außerhalb des NUC) und hier war dennoch auf der Sonos kein Dolby-Signal, sondern nur PCM Stereo.

Allerdings erkennt MediaInfo (auch weiter oben) durchaus eine Dolby-Spur in der Aufnahme und lnj hatte bei sich mit der Datei wohl auch eine Dolby-Ausgabe.

Ich persönlich hatte bei der Aufnahme und Live-TV des NUC bisher noch nirgends eine Dolby-Ausgabe.

Gucke ich oder nehme ich mit der Reel AVG 3 den Sender auf, so kommt an der Sonos auch Dolby 2.0 an.

Vergleiche ich MediaInfo der AVG 3-Aufnahme mit einer NUC-Aufnahme so sind die Werte der Dolby-Spur auch gleich.

Allein bei der NUC-Aufnahme kommt es aber nirgends als Dolby-Ton raus...

Bei dieser Einstellung habe ich dann überhaupt keinerlei Tonausgabe mehr auf Dolby-Spuren.

Die Stereo-Spuren laufen normal weiter.

Rein informativ:

Via Plex auf dem Nvidia Shield TV Pro spielt hier gerade aber DTS 5.1 aus dem Film Inception > Daraus schließe ich einfach mal, das mein System-Setup grundsätzlich funktioniert.
