Update bios Kontron ktq87 board ?

  • Sorry, my english is not the best:

Is a "normal" boot from SSD/HDD possible?

  • Your USB flash drive works on an other computer?

Please note if you prepare the USB flash drive with rufus like described

Update bios Kontron ktq87 board ?

the board cant boot in UEFI mode!

You must boot with USB flash drive in legacy mode!

  • On the other hand you should be able to select the USB flash drive you want boot from in the BIOS if legacay boot is enabled

Be sure legacy mode is enabled, BIOS -> Main -> Boot Features -> Legacy Boot !

  • Hello test.it

I format the usb with Rufus install the files from the latest Bios update KTQ8782 in to the usb

Install usb I get bios screen C:/

I don't know what needs to be done next

  • Thats not a bios screen, thats a DOS prompt :) looks good for your USB boot!

You need to execute the upd.bat!

See readme.txt in .ZiP the file:

Before executing the upd.bat file (from DOS prompt), please enter BIOS Menu and make the setting

Advanced > ME Configuration > Intel (R) ME = Disabled.

When flashing is succesfully completed you will see the text:

    Status : 00.

Now turn off power for 10 seconds.

System will reboot a few times within the next approximately one minute. Don't interrupt the system in this phase.

Reboot into BIOS Main Menu and verify that the Core Version is as expected (like KTQ8718G).

  • ;)

Copy ALL the files from the ZiP in the root of your USB flash drive.

Boot from USB flash drive, if you see the DOS prompt type in

    upd.bat

    and press ENTER.

When flashing is succesfully completed you will see the text:

    Status : 00.

Now turn off power for 10 seconds.

System will reboot a few times within the next approximately one minute. Don't interrupt the system in this phase.

    Good luck!

  • You can execute the bad file only if you have a operating system installed correct or not

The operating system is on your USB flash drive - DOS (Disk Operating System) :tup

  • Hi there,

years later I got an old but pretty well equipped computer utilizing a Kontron KTQ87 mITX mainboard. Unfortunately Kontron does not provide any BIOS/UEFI update files for this board. I thought things could get easier if I could update the UEFI so maybe the device is able to boot UEFI mode from USB thumb drives afterwards...
If you all could upload existing UEFI update packages for this board I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance!

    kind regards

    Chris

    [Edit]

...and just some seconds later I found how to get what I was looking for: Just use your Windows Explorer and input "ftp://ftp.kontron.com/SBC_Products/EOL_Archive/" into the address bar! :)
