Update bios Kontron ktq87 board ?

  • Hi maier2505,

I have 4 ram modules of 4 gb each. If i place 12 gb avg2 works , if i now install all 16 gb the avg2 starts and stops in a loop.

I think the bios needs to be updated but not too sure how to do this.

If you have updated the board can you show the way you did the update ?

    Many thanks for your time.

  • What does the datasheet dedcribes to update the board?

  • Hi Diablo,

Here is the data sheet :

I have downloaded the bf.exeMB's and SBC's. used to upgrade/modify BIOS on Latest version v7.73 dated 2014-08-13.

How do you use this ?

Have also downloaded the actual update (ktq8723.zip) but not sure how to install

    Many thanks.

Edited once, last by kdeuser ().

  • If would suggest to put the zip file onto an usb stick. Generally it should be formatted to fat32. You need to check if the files need to be extracted before. Acc. To my MB an binary file is requiered. Go into your bios and and try to update the bios by it. Todays mainboards normally support a direct update procedure (Ehternet) directly through the BIOS. This is what i asked for. The details you have post is not the datasheet to the mainboard. Its only the history of the bios versions.

Edit: It could be that the *.exe file requires a Windows OS to be executed, which will maybe start then an update process.

  • @kdeuser

create and use a bootable USB stick, for example with freedos:

    https://www.howtogeek.com/1369…a-bootable-dos-usb-drive/

Extract the ktq8723.zip on the stick, boot from it and execute the Upd.bat

  • test.it and Diablo,

Many thanks to you both for helping here.

Still absolutely clueless as to how to go about this.

Here is the page from kontron , may be you might understand this more :

  • Hello,

    Things i have tried :

    - the bf.exe7.73 copy/paste into the 8gb fat32 pen drive

. But what about the other 3 files. They go by 18 21 and 23 . So i download this 23 and where does it go ??????

I am using a linux based distro called bm2lts and booting into a virtualbox guest windows 7.

I go into the pen drive where i copy/paste this bf.exe and i can see a flash of black screen . That is it , seriously clueless my friends - completely clueless.:wand

  • Download the latest file Firmware.

There is a readme which tell you how to make it.

Test.it told you how to create an bootable USB stick with DOS prompt.

  • Forget VM and on linux u cant execute the *.exe in the right way. I guess you need the "free-dos" usb stick for the executable.

  • A long time ago, I do not fully remember...

Basically you have to create a bootable USB stick to be able to run bf.exe from the stick.

Then also the other files go to a folder on the stick, so you can use them running Bf.exe from the stick.

I used freeDOS like referenced above...

This is I remember I did it...
