VDR channels.conf channel scan request - channelpedia

  • Hi

I'm posting to try and get as many people as possible to do a full scan (w_scan/scan-s2/scan etc) of all satellites they are able to tune into so they can be submitted to the yaVDR channel database.

Using a command like this should do the job nicely

    Code
    sudo w_scan -o 7 -fs -s S13E0 >> S13.0E-2011-09-11.conf

It would be great if we could get as many as possible to scan for channels so they can be submited to the yaVDR Channelpedia website

    http://channelpedia.yavdr.com

Satellites that are currently listed are

    S9.0E
    S13.0E
    S19.2E
    S26.0E
    S28.2E/S28.5E

As many others as possible would be great, especially

    S10.0E
    S7.0E
    S1.0W
    S30.0W

And any satellites that aren't listed are welcome. It'd be great to get all commonly used satellites listed

Either send them here - https://bugs.yavdr.com/issues/621 or use www.pastebin.com and link them here or on the yavdr bug site.

I hope as many people as possible can help.

  • Some basics regarding Channelpedia:

    • The distribution used is not important. Only the VDR version used should be current (1.7.4 or later): http://www.vdr-wiki.de/wiki/index.php/Channels.conf
    • Channelpedia can offer its contributors an account for a regular upload of their channels.conf's via HTTP. This is the recommended way to contribute to Channelpedia to make sure that the channel lists stay up-to-date. This also means that ideal contributors are those people who really use the channels from their channels.conf on a daily basis (as opposed to people who do a w_scan of a source for Channelpedia but don't use the result in real life).
    • Channelpedia prefers channel data directly from the VDR's channels.conf (that is slightly different to the output of w_scan. Some work has to be done to also digest w_scan lists correctly: Mainly the audio languages seem to be different in some cases -> "deu"/"ger").
    • Channelpedia needs the full channel list of each source. No channels should be excluded. The setting updateChannels=5 in the setup.conf is required for a complete channel list.
    • An uploaded channels.conf may contain multiple DVB sources. Only whitelisted sources will be stored in Channelpedia, the others are being ignored.
