Hardware softdevice

Is there some of software plugin which emulates a hardwaredevice (a dvb card).

I am looking for such a device for a specific task on my computer. But it would not work until there is a DVB card installed!

I have searched but could only find a softdev, which is if I am right not what I mean.

RE: Hardware softdevice

That is depending on which layer you want to emulate a DVB card.
If you need to emulate it for VDR then the Softdev is the right plugin for you; if you need it for the Operating System then not.

this plugin is called "dummydevice".
When installed the vdr thinks there is a DVB Card installed in system.

I think he means a virtual DVB-Device for Linux. Not especially for VDR.

A long time ago ;) someone on the DVB-ML announced a soft-DVB-device. AFAIR a ts-stream file was taken to even provide real DVB-data.
