  • Well, it depends on speed of your network connection, how many simultaneous streams
you can serve. Your metropolitan network is wireless? 802.11g? Don't know the bitrates
    on DVB-S, AFAIK it's higher than on DVB-C (about 8 Mbit/s). So .. calculate.

To stream live TV, you can use the streamdev server. On yaVDR this is already
useable. Try http://your-vdr-ip:3000 to see how it works and how the stream-URLs
look like. And you have to set witch hosts or nets are allowed to access the stream in
    /etc/vdr/plugins/streamdev-server/streamdevhosts.conf.

The streams can be watched with VLC and many other clients, even other VDRs with
streamdev client. Also very nice is using XMBC with PVR AddOn on clients. Therefore
vnsi- or xvdr-Plugin ist required on the server (in yaVDR already present).
If you wan't to use externremux, to reduce the bitrate and quality, you should
install mencoder, witch is not installed by default in yaVDR.

    But now your main problem:
You have not enough tuners! You can only stream one channel at once per tuner.
OK, more than on client can see this channel, maybe also other channels, if they
are on the same transponder. But that's all.

    kind regards
