[Gelöst] Hilfe: Gentoo + PVR-350 + ivtv = System Freeze @ Boot

  • Hallo,
    ich habe den Medion Digitainer (das Ding das es u.a. für 199 Euro bei Real gab) unter Gentoo (Kernel 2.6.18 ) und VDR 1.4.3 laufen. Eine eingebaute TT C-2300 funktioniert auch einwandfrei damit. Da die Unterstützung des Analogteils der C-2300 momentan unter Linux eher suboptimal ist (bzw. ohne rumgepatche überhaupt nicht vorhanden), habe ich noch eine PVR-350 einbauen wollen, aber damit gibt es Probleme. Schon beim Booten bleibt der Rechner komplett hängen (reagiert auch nicht mehr auf Strg+Alt+Ent) und muss mittels Netzschalter neu gestartet werden. Die letzte Meldung die man sieht, ist das udev loslegt und die devices initialisiert.


    Ich muss dazu sagen, das ich vorher ivtv 0.8.0 installiert habe und auch die empfohlene Firmware ins Hotplug verzeichnis kopiert wurde. Sobald ich die PVR-350 entferne fährt die Kiste wieder wie gewohnt hoch. Ich habe auch Testweise auf den Kernel 2.6.17 und ivtv 0.7.1 downgegraded, hat aber auch nix geholfen, selbes Fehlerbild. Wenn ich ivtv komplett deinstalliere fährt der Rechner auch wieder hoch, aber dann bringt mir ja die PVR-350 nicht allzuviel. ;)


    In meinem anderen Win-XP Rechner funktioniert die Karten einwandfrei, aber im Digitainer+Gentoo will sie nicht. Ich habe auch schon mal alle andern PCI-Karten entfernt und die PVR-350 alleine in jedem der anderen PCI-Slots betrieben, hat aber auch alles nichts gebracht.


    Ach ja, 2x ist es passiert das der Rechner zusammen mit ivtv 0.7.1 und eingestecker PVR-350 hochgefahren ist und auch laut logfile alle Module und die Firmware erfolgreich geladen hat. Leider waren diese erfolgreiche Bootvorgänge nicht stabil reproduzierbar, bei allen anderen Bootvorgängen hat sich der Rechner immer wieder an der selben Stelle aufgehangen. So vom Gefühl her sieht das für mich wie ein Timing Problem bei der Initialisierung aus, aber genaues weis man nicht... Ich habe auch Testweise die Firmware von der beigelegten Windows Treiber-CD extrahiert und installiert, aber auch das hat keine Besserung gebracht. Im Fehlerfall finde ich auch überhaupt keine Fehlermeldungen im Logfile, alles sehr merkwürdig...


    Nach dem ich jetzt in den letzen zwei Tagen alle HowTo´s zur PVR-350 und ivtv hier im Board und im VDR-Wiki durchforstet habe und es einfach nicht hinbekomme frage ich also mal die Experten hier im Board:


    Hat jemand von euch Erfahrungen mit dem Digitainer + PVR-350 bzw. sind hier inkompatibilitäten mit dem verbauten MSI-Mainboard bekannt? Ist dieses Fehlerbild bekannt?

  • nur um sicherzugehen: Du lädst nicht etwa noch ivtv-fb ? das kann zu einem Einfrieren der Konsole führen.( ivtv-fb wird nicht benötigt, wenn die FF-Karte die Ausgabe übernimmt.)


    Ansonsten bleibt ohne jegliche Logs nur die Glaskugel :)

  • ivtv-fb lade ich nicht, um genau zu seien habe ich jegliche ivtv module aus der modules.autoload entfernt. Das laden der Module geschieht "automatisch" vom Kernel (ist ja in der ivtv Doku so beschrieben das daß im Kernel aktiviert sein muss).
    Vom Fehlerfall kann ich leider keinen Log liefern, die Kiste scheint so heftig abzustürzen das syslog-ng es anscheinend nicht mal mehr schafft seinen Logfilebuffer auf die HD zu flushen. Erst der nächste erfolgreiche Boot (also wenn ich die Karte wieder entfernt habe) taucht wieder im Logfile auf. Daher hier mal das Logfile von einem der wenigen erfolgreichen Bootvorgänge mit eingestecker PVR-350 und ivtv.

  • Nachtrag: In der syslog-ng doku sehe ich gerade das man auch konfigurieren kann das jede Zeile direkt auf die HD geschrieben wird. Ich versuch da mal einzustellen, vieleicht sieht man dann ja was.

    na das mit dem loggen über seriell werde ich wohl ausprobieren müssen.
    Hab nämlich grad meine syslog-ng.conf gecheckt, da steht bereits unter Options "sync(0)" drinne, d.h. syslog schreibt bereits jede Zeile direkt auf die Platte. Trotzdem hab ich vom Fehlerfall keinen einzigen Logeintrag, nicht mal die Startzeile "syslog-ng version 1.6.11 starting" kommt dann, ich verstehe das einfach nicht.


    Bsp: Ich hab am 11:18 ivtv installiert und den Rechner runtergefahren. Dann die PVR-350 eingebaut und den Rechner gestartet (Dürfte so gegen 11:20 gewesen sein). Beim Booten ist der Rechner wie erwartet nach der Meldung:

  • So, ich hab jetzt mal, wie von Ralph vorgeschlagen, den Consolenoutput via Nullmodem Kabel auf mein Laptop umgeleitet. Das hier ist die Ausgabe, viel schlauer bin ich daraus aber nicht geworden, ist halt die selbe Ausgabe die ich auch sonst beim Boot auf dem Monitor sehe.     Hat sonst noch jemand ne Idee was man hier machen kann? Momentan sieht es so aus als währe es wohl die einfachste Lösung die Karte wieder bei eBay zu verscheuern und sich ein CAM+CI für die grundverschlüsselten Programm zu holen, aber irgendwie will ich jetzt doch schon wissen wo es hier genau mit der PVR-350 klemmt...

    das Syslog-ng nix anzeigt im Fehlerfall dürfte wohl schlicht und ergreifend daran liegen das es zu dem Zeitpunkt einfach noch nicht läuft. Im Logfile sieht man nämlich das es erst nach dem udev fertig ist angestartet wird.

    Ich hab nur keine PVR350 zum testen und zum berichten.
    Aber mal so ein Gedanke von mir.
    So wie das Log aussieht lädt udev diese Module

    bevor ich den "Oops" weiter nachgehe, habe ich jetzt erstmal die Gentoo CFLAGS auf konservativere Settings gestellt (d.h. auf die "save" recommended settings für nen Celeron Coppermine) und lass jetzt die Kiste mal alle Sourcen komplett neu bauen (Was ne weile dauern dürfte...). Bin ja mal gespannt ob der Fehler dann verschwindet.
    Nicht das daß ganze nur Seiteneffekte einer zu gut gemeinten Optimierung sind.

    wenn du mit der ganzen Kompilierei fertisch bist könntest du mir mal sagen ob ich mit meiner Meinung falsch liege bezüglich der CFLAGS.
    Wenn ich bei meinem System auf -march=athlon-mp stelle anstatt -march=i686 hab ich so das gefühl das das Ganze system was träger ist.
    Hatte nämlich mal ein i586-stage3 versehentlich geladen und siehe da das kompilieren ging subjektiv doch was schneller.

    also wenn Du auch nen Ahtlon-MP verbaut hast, dürfte es mit -march=athlon-mp nicht langsamer tun als mit -march=i686.
    Könnte es noch andere Unterschiede zwischen deinem Build und der vorgebauten stage3 installation gibt? Evtl. andere Optimierungsflags (O2 vs O3)? Hast Du in deinem Kernel auch SMP aktiviert? (CONFIG_SMP)


    Um mal wieder zur PVR-350 zurückzukommen:
    Inzwischen ist das gesamte System mit O2 und pentium3 flags gebaut worden, aber daran hat es offensichtlich nicht gelegen, der Fehler ist immer noch vorhanden.


    Seit dem ich den Debug-Kernel verwende ist das Fehlerbild übrigens wie folgt:
    Wenn nur die PVR-350 gesteckt ist, startet das System (meistens) hoch, Modules (i2c, ivtv, etc...) sind laut lsmod Ausgabe auch alle geladen und dmesg zeigt auch keine Fehler an. Sieht so aus als währe alles ok. Wenn ich jetzt ein modprobe -r ivtv ausführe gibts nen heftigen Kernel ooops.


    Wenn ich zur PVR-350 auch noch die TT C2300 drinne habe erhöhe ich die Wahrscheinlichkeit das es schon beim linux start zu nem Kernel ooops kommt beträchtlich (es gibt dann die Fehlermeldung die ich schon weiter ober gepostet habe). Sieht so aus als würde es beim laden/initialisieren des ivtv modules zu einem Null-Pointer zugriff kommen.


    Ich habe die Karte auch mal in einen anderen Gentoo Rechner gesteckt und siehe da: Auch hier gibts nen Systemhänger beim Aufstarten. Wenn ich die Karte auf dem selben Rechner unter Windows Xp betreibe funktioniert aber alles bestens und man kann wunderbar TV schauen.


    Ich habs jetzt aufgegeben. Ich habe mir für die TT C2300 nen CI-Slot + Allcam besorgt und kann jetzt prinzipiell TV schauen. Die PVR-350 werde ich wohl wieder verticken, ist ja anscheinend für meinen Rechner/Betriebssystem Kombination unbrauchbar.


    Leider ist die Kombination TT-C2300 + CI + ALLCAM + Kabeldeutschland Home Abo auch nicht perfekt:


    1 - Die Kanalumschaltzeiten sind einfach nur ein Witz, ca. 3s bis bei nem Channelswitch Bild&Ton gewechselt haben.
    2 - Ich kann nicht alle Programme empfangen, die Öffis und die verschlüsselten Privaten (PRO7, RTL, etc.) kann ich kucken aber die KDH-Home Programme sind nicht da, der Suchlauf findet sie einfach nicht (Evtl. das TT / QUAM 256 Problem). Die Premiere Kanäle funktionieren aber. Stecke ich die Karte in meine dbox2 kann ich die Programme einstellen und auch kucken. Zum aufnehmen von "Free-TV" ist die Kiste also jetzt zu gebrauchen, aber als Tuner für für meinen Beamer zum "Live-TV" kucken/zappen ist das nix.


    D.h. ich brauche noch ne möglichkeit analoges Kabelprogramm in den VDR zu bekommen. Um die Systemauslastung niedrig zu halten, würde ich schon gerne nen Empfänger mit MPEG2 Encoder haben (darum ja auch die PVR-350). Da ich mal annehme da ne PVR-150/250 sich auch nicht anders verhalten als meine PVR-350 frage ich mich was es denn noch für alternativen gibt. Gefunden habe ich jetzt nur noch die PVR-USB2.
    Was meint ihr, könnte das funktionieren? Gibt es für die PVR-USB2 andere Module/Treiber für Linux als das bei mir problematische IVTV? Und wie sind die Umschaltzeiten mit der PVR-USB2 und dem VDR?


    Fragen über fragen... Mit SAT ist ein VDR-System ja anscheinen Easy-going, aber ein Kabelsystem damit aufzusetzen ist echt ein Abenteuer. ;)

    Könnte ich Dir anbieten die PVR mal in meinem Digitainer zu testen, das am besten nächstes Wochenende machen da die Frau nicht da ist und ich dann endlich wieder root-zugriff :) aufs Gerät habe.

    ich hab die PVR-350 jetzt mal in nem weiteren Rechner (nForce2 Board, CPU Athlon XP) unter (K)Ubuntu mit 2.6.17 Kernel und ivtv 0.7.1 getestet. Da funktioniert die Karte! Laden/Entladen der Module klappt dort prima und ich konnte mittels mplayer/pltune nen Sender einstellen und tv-schauen.


    Ich habe mir jetzt mal ne gebrauchte PVR-USB2 für den Digitainer bestellt , mal schauen obs damit läuft. Hätte auch den Vorteil das nicht zwei Wämreproduzierende Karten im Digitainer stecken. Ich finde die Wärmeentwicklung der tt-c2300 und des CAMs sind schon genug. ;)

  • Ich habe mal auf dem Rechner auf dem die PVR-350 unter Kubuntu lief, das Kubuntu platt gemacht und Gentoo installiert (Kernel 2.6.18-r3, ivtv 0.8.1). Und was soll ich sagen, jetzt hängt sich die Kiste beim booten vom Gentoo wieder auf, nachdem ich ein emerge ivtv und danach nen reboot gemacht habe.


    Das problem scheint also nix mit dem Digitainer zu tun zu haben, sieht irgendwie mehr nach nem Gentoo / ivtv Problem aus. Hat hier sonst noch jemand erfolgreich ne PVR-350 und ivtv mit nem kernel >= 2.6.17 und ivtv >= 0.7.0 unter gentoo am laufen? Wenn ja, bitte mal die .config und make.conf posten.

    habe grade nen Kernel build mit dem 2.6.18.3 Kernel von kernel.org angestossen, mal schauen ob es was bringt.


    Vorher habe ich mal die sourcen des ivtv-treiber direkt von ivtvdriver.org gezogen und gebaut, hat aber leider nix gebracht. Gibt auch nur nen Systemfreeze sobald das ivtv modul geladen wird.

  • ich habe ivtv-0.8.1 mit Kernel 2.6.18 problemlos laufen. Und zwar habe ich mir die aktuellen v4l-dvb-hg-Sourcen gezogen (http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb?ca=-1;type=bz2)


    Im Ordner v4l-dvb-xxx/v4l habe ich dann das Makefile so geändert, dass nicht die noch fehlerhafte trunk-Version von ivtv gemergt wird, sondern die stabilere 0.8 branch:

    Anschließend im Hauptordner v4l-dvb-xxx ein "make ivtv" und anschließend "make". Es werden alle Module inkl. ivtv.ko und ivtv-fb.ko kompiliert. Mit "make install" installierst Du sie dann im Kernelzweig.


    Wichtig: Seit neuestem wird die autoconf.h ausgewertet, ob abhängige Module vorhanden sind. Hat man jetzt in seiner Kernel-Konfiguration (.config) diese nicht drin (weil man ja weiss, dass man sowieso die Module separat kompiliert), gibt es offenbar Probleme. Du solltest daher in Deiner Kernel-Konfiguration folgende Einträge drin haben:

    ich hab das mal mit den v4l-dvb treibern wie von dir beschrieben ausprobiert, hat leider auch nix gebracht. Immer noch das selbe Problem (systemfreeze beim laden von ivtv.ko) vorhanden.


    Gibt es evtl. noch etwas was man im Kernel nicht aktivieren darf bzw. unbedingt aktivieren muss damit das tut? Oder müssen irgendwelche teile (I2C, v4l) fest einkompiliert werden bzw. müssen unbedingt als module vorliegen? Aber wahrscheinlich ist es das nicht, ich hatte nämlich unter Kubuntu auch meinen Kernel selber gebacken habe (mit den Kernelsourcen direkt von kernel.org) und damit hatte die Karte einwandfrei funktioniert.
