yavdr 0.3a rotor plugin crashing

  • Hi,

    I think a number of people have reported this, but it seems that the rotor plugin is still crashing regularly with latest version of yavdr making it almost unusable to steer the dish..

    I think this has already been reported in bug id #225, but no-one produced a crash dump. I have found 2 types of crashes, here are the dumps: -

    1)
    #0 0x080aca0a in cHashObject::Object (this=0x59) at tools.h:525
    #1 0x080ac238 in cChannels::GetByChannelID (this=0x81cb400, ChannelID=...,

    #7 0x0043ea4e in clone () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6

    2)

    from /usr/lib/libfribidi.so.0
    #1 0x093959a0 in ?? ()

    Hope this helps to get this problem fixed - please let me know if there is anying I can help further to do.

    Thanks,

    Morfsta

  • I don't believe that this will be fixed anytime soon. The plugin is not part of the yaVDR distribution, so I don't see the yaVDR team working on this issue. As far as I know the plugin is orphaned. Will be difficult to find a developer that has the time and the motivation to work on it.

  • Thanks for the reply.

    I thought it was a part of yavdr? Has it been removed? It still shows in my package list as: -

    vdr-plugin-rotor 0.1.5-32yavdr1

    I don't think I'm the only yavdr user with this problem so it would be great if we could fix it together.

    Thanks,

    It has never been part of the yaVDR distribution.

    It is part of the yaVDR repository, that is something completely different.

    As I told already, don't expect too much help from the team. You can provide a patch and we will apply it.

  • I found a version of the rotor plugin that SHOULD work with vdr-1.7.16. I would like for someone to test the plugin because I also am interested in adding an SG2100 motor to my setup for TRUE FTA. Here are the recent notes in the plugins history.

    2010-06-08: Version 0.1.4mh-v1.2

    - Updated for VDR-1.7.15

    Here is a link for the plugin PLEASE test it and report your results. Then perhaps it can be added to the yavdr repository.

  • I just patched vdr and installed the plugin, everything seems to be working OSD wise (I dont have a dish motor to test with atm) No crashes when trying to configure in the Anthra OSD. With rotor plugin version 1.5 there were many crashes when configuring in the OSD. I should also mention I do not use yavdr's VDR ppa or iso, I use a vanilla vdr with a few patches ( NA EIT and Copperheads extension patch).

  • I tried this plugin and the rev. 1.3 before. Both do a nice job within the menu ... but they don't move the positioner ;) Therefor they are pretty useless in my eyes ...
    rotor 1.5 moves the rotor but crashes within the menu ...
