Look into the file /etc/default/vdr.
There you wil find your desired setting to disable the shutdown.

Thanks for your input. But I know about that and it is not what I am looking for.
What I need is to turn off any power management on the computer. So no suspend, hibernation and so on. I need the computer to be on 24/7.
As far as I know there is not automatic shutdown in default installation of ubuntu.
My computer shut down resulting from the shutdown-command of vdr.
To prevent this shutdown-command from vdr i set the above mentioned parameter to 0.
Are you sure that you have any power-management enabled ?

Try:
osd menu/system/setup/miscelaneous/min time of inactivity------>0
That disable the shutdown. I have configured like that 24/7 on.
Cheers.
