Maybe the Wiki is a little bit outdated. Today a Nvidia Graphic card is more important to get the best results (VDPAU, Deinterlacing). I think the DVB card should work, if it is also working with mythtv.
One of my vdr works fine with the Technisat SkyStar 2 eXpress HD after the install of UFOs media build experimental. I have Opensuse.
And as frontend you need a vdpau-card from nvidia as TheChief wrote.
