vdr 1.4.0 compiled... how to check if it works?

Hello,
I have a skkystar 2 DVB card.
Just compiled vdr 1.4.0 and applied patch to it.

Sorry, but talking about such patches is illegal in germany

i compiled the files and copied vdr to the right directory
Then i type vdr.
What next...? I open xine but i dont get any image.
Should this be working like this or what do i have to do?

My dvb driver IS working (tried it with the progam teclasat viewer)

i tried the following:
apt-get install vdr-plugin-xineliboutput
This installs without any problems (but it installs for vdr version 1.4.3)
When i try vdr -P xineliboutput, vdr: /usr/lib/vdr/plugins/libvdr-xineliboutput.so.1.4.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
(Because of the plugin being in another directory i guess, how to find which one?)

Second try:
I try installing vdr-xine using this link:

But i keep getting compile errors...

Can i somehow get this to work using the "apt-get install vdr-plugin-xineliboutput" method.
Or is there another (easier) way to get vdr working (doesn't have to be with xine, but has to be fast enough to be able to record, ...)?

i had a second try,
got the files xine-lib, xine-ui (from source), and xine
i first install xine-lib:

./configure
make
make install

when i do the same for xine-ui, i get an error xine-lib should be installed first... (?)
